Nestled in a quiet villa area in Azumino–Hotaka at the foothills of the Northern Alps, this is a private Onsen Accommodation limited to one group per day, rented as an entire house. In the hinoki bath made from Kiso cypress, you can enjoy free-flowing natural hot spring water drawn from the mountains. The approx. 450 m² garden features local plants that bud and change with the seasons, and you can feel these transitions from the living room. At night, a star-filled sky spreads across the clear air, bringing a stillness far from everyday life. In the morning, we offer a light breakfast featuring freshly grated wasabi. Although winters are severe in this area, a pellet stove like a fireplace is installed for comfortable stays even in autumn and winter. Daio Wasabi Farm and the Azumino Chihiro Art Museum are about 15 minutes away by car. The nearest ski resort is Jiigatake Ski Resort—ideal for beginners and families—about 30 minutes away by car. Hakuba, Kurobe, Kamikochi, and Matsumoto are all within about an hour’s drive. Enjoying views of the Northern Alps foothills, this Accommodation is an ideal base for exploring Azumino’s unique nature and culture at a relaxed pace. Even a small journey can bring encounters with the wind, conversations with objects, and meetings with people. Even a small journey, I want to take it slowly, living humanly... In July 1988, Lodge Azumino Yujin opened in a corner of the forest of Suzurei Hill in Azumino, nestled among the red pine and oak woods spreading across the foothills of the Northern Alps. Since my first solo trip during high school, I have visited various places, met many people, and had countless experiences... When I first traveled to Hokkaido, I encountered people living simply and generously amidst the vast nature. Experiencing a world completely different from the hustle and bustle of the city where I grew up, I was struck by culture shock and began to dream of one day living leisurely in a land rich in nature. My first encounter with Azumino was when I traveled to Kamikochi and Norikura and happened to stay at a vacant Property. Since then, it has become a place where I feel at ease without reason, a place I visit whenever I have time, doing nothing but relaxing and idling away... Around that time, I read in a book about people living in the forested areas of Canada, cutting trees and building cabins with them, known as log houses. With a passion for authentic Canadian log houses, a love for wood, a dedication to Azumino, and a belief in how people should live to be true to themselves, I continue to move forward at my own pace with these thoughts in my heart.

Enjoy creative kaiseki cuisine featuring mountain delicacies personally foraged by our head chef and seasonal ingredients from Azumino. Our Japanese-modern guest rooms, renovated in March 2020, come in three types inspired by signature Shinshu colors. Relax in our soft-feeling alkaline simple Onsen, available in a stone-lined open-air bath and a spacious large public bath. Soak while taking in the changing seasons, and at night, enjoy the moon and stars as you unwind in the Onsen.

A Property renovated from a wealthy merchant's villa, featuring a magnificent building and garden made with carefully selected natural materials. The long corridors, staircases, and open resting areas reflect the playful spirit of the merchant. The detached guest rooms consist of two connected Japanese-style rooms (10 tatami mats and 8 tatami mats) and include a private open-air bath, indoor bath, kitchen, garden, and entrance, offering a private and relaxing stay. The open-air bath, crafted from large rocks, is located within the garden, allowing guests to enjoy the fresh greenery or autumn foliage. The cuisine includes seasonal dishes such as Shinshu beef steak and fresh vegetables, providing a taste of the seasons.
