It was in 1929 (Showa 4) when the first president of Nagano Electric Railway, Tohei Kozu, met Lieutenant Helseth from Norway. It was a groundbreaking event where the culture of a Western-style Hotel was incorporated into a traditional Japanese-style Ryokan for the first time. Despite this loss, with encouragement from numerous supporters, we are proud to announce its revival as the new "Matsusho-so" on March 1, 2024. The building incorporates design elements of the original Matsusho-so while embracing traditional Sukiya architecture that harmonizes with nature.
