I was looking for a Room with an open-air bath and in-room dining. About a 45-minute drive from Kanazawa, with a zoo and the mysterious Hanibe Gankutsu-in nearby, it felt like the perfect place for the first night of our 2-night, 3-day trip, so we decided to stay here. First, when we arrived about 10 minutes past check-in time, everyone was waiting outside in this heat, and since we weren’t used to that kind of welcome, we felt truly apologetic (lol). I was surprised by how vast the grounds were—our Room was spacious, and best of all, it had the semi open-air bath I’d been hoping for! Having a dedicated staff member (?) take care of us throughout our stay also made us feel at ease. This time it happened to be my companion’s birthday month… and when I casually mentioned it, they gave us a birthday gift at dinner. On top of that, the proprietress even put on a surprise (no spoilers), which made it such a fun and memorable experience. We heard the meals change daily, so I think even a Multiple Night Stay would be enjoyable. There are also two large public baths that are more than enough to enjoy even without an in-room bath—we were able to relax and unwind. Above all, we really appreciated the warm hospitality from all the staff. In the end everything worked out well, but since it was their birthday month I requested an additional dinner item in advance; however, on the day we were told that if we ordered that menu they would like to serve dinner not in our Room but in another private dining room instead. Since I had been looking forward to in-room dining as well, I would have appreciated being informed at the time of ordering that this might happen. That said, the room they prepared for us was private—and actually it worked out better for messy people like us because we didn’t have to rush around tidying up before dinner—so we were very satisfied. Next time I’m thinking of visiting during my own birthday month so I can experience the proprietress’s surprise again. Thanks to you all, it turned into a wonderful Kanazawa trip. I stayed at this Ryokan specifically to enjoy ayu, as it is famous for its ayu cuisine. At dinner, a wide variety of ayu dishes were served, and I thoroughly enjoyed more than 10 fish. The most delicious was the ayu rice; even though I was already full, I ended up having two bowls. The non-ayu dishes also looked excellent, so next time I plan to try dishes other than ayu. The proprietress, the attendants, and the head chef were all friendly, and I had a wonderful time. It was a pity that the bath was not an Onsen, but it was spacious enough for more than the number of guests staying there, so I could soak at leisure and ease my travel fatigue. As this is a historic culinary Ryokan, you can’t expect modern comforts; however, it is well maintained in its own way and offers a different kind of comfort from today’s luxury Ryokan. This Accommodation lets you experience the comfort of a traditional Japanese inn.

I stayed here with my sister and her husband while it was snowing heavily. The Accommodation has both a first and second floor, making it a Room layout I had never experienced before. The in-Room bath had plenty of hot water flowing continuously, which was perfect for a morning soak. The meals were also very delicious.

Just 12 minutes by train from Kanazawa Station, with a free Shuttle Service from the station, it was a nearby Onsen. I had been curious about the “Tanbo-no-Yu” bath. It was a trip for three sisters in our 60s, and the open-air “Tanbo-no-Yu” bath was wonderful. Maybe because rice planting had just been done around the baths... the chorus of frogs created a great atmosphere. The meals were delicious as well. The staff were from overseas but spoke Japanese very well, and worked hard to provide warm hospitality. It’s an old Hotel with history, and as you walk through the building you can still see impressive old beams, a large cauldron once used to cook rice, and antique chests of drawers. Modernizing the Facility is nice too, but this Accommodation let us truly feel traditional Japanese charm. I think I would recommend it to international guests as well. The price was reasonable, and I will come again. Thank you very much.

A serene Accommodation surrounded by rows of trees. With spacious hallways and a limited number of Rooms, we rarely encountered other guests and were able to relax and enjoy a peaceful stay.

The meals are absolutely exceptional. During the game meat season, we enjoyed delicious dishes, and the vegetable-based cuisine was equally impressive. It made us want to visit again in a different season. However, breakfast was slightly underwhelming (the service was excellent, and the hot pot was tasty, but for a Japanese-style breakfast, one more dish would have been appreciated).

The Facility may look old, but it has a pleasantly aged charm, and it is thoroughly cleaned, so it never feels dirty. The fireplace atmosphere is wonderful! The service was very courteous, and everyone greeted us with a smile, which felt great. When we contacted the front desk, they came to our Room right away—truly attentive. The meals were very generous and we couldn’t finish everything, but we also enjoyed the game meat. The bath was well cleaned, and the open-air bath was especially relaxing with a view of the night sky!
