Bansuiro Fukuzumi is a historic Onsen accommodation in Hakone Yumoto, established in 1625 during the Kan'ei era, with its own private hot spring source. During the late Edo to Meiji periods, it hosted notable figures such as the 15th Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu, Yukichi Fukuzawa, Hirobumi Ito, and Takamori Saigo. In 2002, it became the first active Ryokan to be designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. 【Onsen Sommelier Ambassador's Property】Located just a 6-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station. This historic Onsen Ryokan has a legacy of over 300 years. The wooden three-story Ryokan, built over 100 years ago, retains traces of its history in features such as staircase drawers, window frames, ceiling boards, and shoe racks, which are now rare to find. To ensure a comfortable stay for all guests, we have renovated most of the rooms while preserving some of the original charm. Since its establishment in the early Edo period, the oldest and finest Onsen in Hakone (renowned for its skin-beautifying properties) has been continuously flowing.
