In Ikaho, we are one of the few hot spring Accommodations where you can enjoy two types of waters: “Kodakara-no-Yu,” traditionally said to be beneficial for women; “Kogane-no-Yu” (Golden Hot Spring), said to be good for recuperation; and “Shirogane-no-Yu” (Silver Hot Spring), said to promote health. Ryokan Tamaki has been in operation for 70 years, during which we have identified three essential elements for a ryokan: friendliness, dignity, and emotion. Our Accommodation is a hot-spring inn for guests aged 20 and over.In the early Meiji era, the 14th-generation proprietor, Yoshishige Fukuda, opened a new annex in Ikaho, Joshu—“Oku Ikaho Ryotei Kaichoro”—distinct in character from the family’s long-established Accommodation.In “Kaichoro,” “Kai” signifies tranquility, and “Cho” expresses our wish for guests to spend their time at ease; with this hope, we chose the name.From our carefully crafted cuisine to refined traditional Japanese-style Rooms and high-grade Rooms with an emphasis on design, all Rooms feature a private open-air bath. This authentic Onsen boasts a unique tea-brown color and is rich in mineral deposits. After enjoying the Onsen, we recommend taking a stroll through Ikaho's famous Stone Steps Street.

A historic Ryokan established in the Edo period, located midway along the famous "Stone Steps Street" of Ikaho. The main building is a "Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan." You can choose your Room from the western wing built in 1920 with cypress wood or the western wing renovated into a modern Japanese style. Experience the warmth of cypress and Taisho-era charm alongside our golden hot spring water directly sourced from its origin.

In the wooden main building, constructed from the Taisho era to the early Showa period, each Room features its own unique character and design, offering a calm atmosphere shaped by years of history. At every bath in the Accommodation, enjoy Ikaho’s signature tea-brown hot spring, “Kogane-no-Yu,” with 100% free-flowing natural spring water—no added water and no circulation. In addition to a large public bath and an open-air bath, we also offer private baths that require no Reservation. Some Rooms also let you enjoy free-flowing hot spring water in your guest Room for a stay that suits your style. For dinner, we serve a Japanese kaiseki course featuring seasonal ingredients. From the top-floor panoramic bath, you can enjoy a sweeping view of Mount Akagi while indulging in the renowned "Shirogane no Yu," a colorless, odorless hot spring with a gentle touch on the skin. Nestled at the foot of Mount Haruna, Joushin no Sato Hibikino stands in the historic Ikaho Onsen. Spanning approximately 15,000 tsubo, the grounds feature gardens and pathways adorned with seasonal flora. Enjoy a private getaway on the 1st floor and terrace of Kiyomizu Residence. Bring your own food and drinks; gas BBQ and hot pot party equipment are available to borrow free of charge. This historic mansion in the quiet center of a castle town, surrounded by gardens and parks, has been renovated for group stays—offering the warm hospitality unique to a family-run property. Facilities include a spacious 50-tatami great hall, a Showa-retro dining room, and an earthen-floor area with a table tennis set. Bedroom layouts can be arranged flexibly. Limited to one group per day, so you can relax without worrying about neighbors. Premium timber sourced from Gunma’s Jomo Sanzan mountains soothes both body and mind. Many day-use Onsen are nearby, making it an ideal base for sightseeing. Takasaki, Maebashi, Ikaho, and Haruna are about 25 minutes by car. About 25 minutes by car from Maebashi IC, and about 27 minutes by bus or car from JR Takasaki Station. Maximum occupancy: 20 guests.
