A new encounter, a single story. Kanbayashi Hotel Senjukaku. The story began with an encounter. It was in 1929 (Showa 4) when the first president of Nagano Electric Railway, Tohei Kozu, met Lieutenant Helseth from Norway. This meeting in Kanbayashi brought together European and Japanese cultures, creating an entirely new culture or space. It was a groundbreaking event where the culture of a Western-style Hotel was incorporated into a traditional Japanese-style Ryokan for the first time. Furthermore, this encounter became the prologue to the development of Kanbayashi Onsen and Shiga Kogen, now renowned as one of Japan's leading international resorts.

The "segai-dashi beam construction" creates a beautiful landscape with large white walls and black beams. It recreates the traditional architectural style that has been passed down since the Edo period when it was founded. From the moment you step through the entrance, you are welcomed by a space with a pure Japanese atmosphere. A quiet time flows within the facility, making it hard to believe it's in the center of an Onsen town.
