Around Karuizawa Toy Kingdom × Highly rated Hotel·Ryokan for Onsen and bath

To all the staff at Karuizawa Club Hotel 1130, thank you as always for your kind support. My family has stayed here many times over the past few years, and this time we were finally able to make a Reservation for the Premium Family Suite Room we had long hoped for, so we stayed yesterday. As its name suggests, it was the highest-grade Room among the many Rooms at Karuizawa Hotel 1130. There was an open-air jacuzzi bath on the balcony, and two indoor baths inside as well. There were also two restrooms, and four separate rooms in total—one of them a bedroom with a skylight that lets you gaze up at the sky. Because every space was so luxurious, my whole family was thrilled the moment we stepped into each room. We had reserved Japanese kaiseki at Yamaboshi well in advance, but it was changed to a buffet Plan. Just like in Hewitt Resort’s TV commercial, the buffet venue was beautiful and the selection was extensive. From the live kitchen at dinner to freshly made rice balls at breakfast, everything exceeded our expectations. The staff were all courteous and kind, which helped us greatly. We also visited the open-air bath at Onioshi Onsen; it had been renovated and made it easier to access directly from the indoor bath area. We will be staying one more night later this month as well, and we are looking forward to enjoying the same Premium Family Suite Room again. Each time we stay, this wonderful Hotel continues to evolve even further—and it has become our family’s favorite. I hope other guests can experience that same sense of excitement too. The owners were truly kind and welcoming, and their hospitality was very soothing. The resident dogs, Bell and Cherry, were also adorable. The Room was spacious, and the dog run outside the Room was great. All of the meals were delicious, especially the duck steak, the pudding-like dessert, the fresh salad, the morning cherry tomato salad-like dish, and the egg-salad omelet-style dish. We would love to visit again.

This was my first time staying at this Hotel. The front desk staff were wonderful, and the food was delicious—I was very satisfied. Just one thing: coffee was provided in the morning, but it was a coffee drink rather than brewed coffee, which was a little disappointing. Still, considering everything overall, I felt it offered excellent value for money. Thank you very much.

We stayed here for my partner’s birthday trip. Surrounded by nature in a quiet setting, we were able to step away from everyday life and spend a truly wonderful time. The room was very clean, and the Facility and amenities were well equipped, so we stayed comfortably without any inconvenience throughout our stay. The size was just right, and it felt like a very cozy space for two adults. The sauna is electric, so even someone like me who isn’t used to wood-fired saunas could enjoy it easily—and it still felt authentic, which was more than satisfying. Before our stay, they also shared helpful information such as the destination (Google Maps), what to bring, and recommended nearby places, which we really appreciated. Next time, we’d love to stay for multiple nights!

We stayed with you last year and returned again this year, and despite the intense heat, it was wonderfully cool, allowing both our minds and bodies to truly relax. We plan to come back again next year with our two dogs. On the way here, we were also able to visit Kumano Kotai Shrine (Kumano Kōtaijingū), famous for its “long-life shrine for dogs,” where we prayed once again this year for our dogs’ knee health and overall well-being.

I was worried because the reviews weren’t very good, but nothing really bothered me. In any case, it was inexpensive, the Room was spacious, and being surrounded by nature with fresh air was very refreshing. Since it was No Meals Included, we didn’t do a barbecue or anything like that, but there were lots of dogs and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Above all, the kids enjoyed it, so we were very satisfied.

Since around February this year, I’ve stayed here whenever I visit Kita-Karuizawa for work, and I’ve already returned for more than 10 nights. It’s a long-loved pension, so the building shows its age, but it’s kept very clean. Surrounded by beautiful trees, it feels like an especially perfect location in the coming season. The biggest highlight is the food. Even after staying many times, I can’t recall ever being served the same menu. The owner couple seem to thoughtfully create new dishes each time for repeat guests like me, and I truly appreciate their care. Not only do I look forward to every meal, but chatting with them after dinner has also become a wonderful travel memory. It’s located in Tsumagoi Village, but if you’re traveling to Karuizawa or Kusatsu Onsen, I highly recommend going a little further and staying at Motown. A pension I can wholeheartedly recommend!

We were able to fully enjoy the quiet, slow passage of time in the forest. The ceramics displayed like art pieces can also be used to serve food! A cottage in the woods that offers an experience you rarely get elsewhere. Thank you for a luxurious, soothing stay by the wood-burning stove. We’d love to visit again in a different season.

It was quiet, and the staff were kind. The place was well cleaned and very tidy. Buying groceries as a family and enjoying a meal in a different living room than usual was fun. What concerned me was that the washing machine lid seemed to have poor contact, so it wouldn’t go through to the spin cycle, and the living room air conditioner remote had dead batteries.

We arrived early, but the car navigation showed the wrong Hotel location, and we got lost in the snow. The sign was also hard to see because of the snow, so I think it’s better to check on a smartphone map. The room and meals were very good, with warm homemade food. We visited Suwa before coming, and I didn’t expect Gunma to have so much snow. Last year there wasn’t much snow, so we came with regular tires; next time we’ll come with studless winter tires. We made it home safely.

Set in a quiet forest, it was wonderful to be able to enjoy a truly out-of-the-ordinary stay. The café that also serves as the management office was incredibly stylish—absolutely amazing. Next time, I’d love to try the spinach curry at the café! When I mentioned we were going to Ueda Castle the next day, you shared lots of helpful information, and we were able to see the moat at Ueda High School as well. Thank you very much. We’ll be back. We did not use the bath.

First of all, the staff was very kind and attentive. The Room was thoroughly cleaned and very tidy. The bedding was also clean and comfortable. The wood stove added a nice atmosphere and a sense of escape from the ordinary, and it warmed the entire Room, making the purchase of firewood a good decision. According to my wife's opinion... A few slightly disappointing points: No makeup remover or facial cleanser in the amenities Not a three-sided mirror The bathroom floor is slippery Next time, we would like to stay for more than two nights to relax more. Also, it seems there are Facilities in other areas, so we would like to use those as well.

A village nestled in a quiet villa area of Kita-Karuizawa. The Accommodation is dog-friendly with free indoor access and a private dog run. The dog run is generously covered with wood chips, and the BBQ area was well maintained, so we felt comfortable letting our dog play. Sitting on the deck in front of the trailer house, you can hear the gentle stream nearby, and all you see is lush greenery with no man-made structures in sight. Luom no Mori nearby, which we were kindly introduced to, offered delicious pizza in a spacious forest garden. At Asama Otaki Falls, the shaded walking path was pleasant, and our dog occasionally walked through the stream. This tiny house combines an attractive location that’s perfect for traveling with dogs with plenty of space and convenience.

We stayed with our dog. The Room and Facility are minimal but sufficient. However, although Wi‑Fi was broadcasting on 5G, it wasn’t connected to the internet, so we ended up enjoying a digital detox.
