With over 350 years of history, Myogaya Honkan is a long-established, secluded Ryokan nestled along the gorge of the Shiobara Onsen area. Its signature highlight is the “Riverside Open-Air Bath,” where you can enjoy the soothing sound of the river up close. After descending 88 steps, you’ll find an immersive hidden-hot-spring atmosphere surrounded by nature. The Onsen features two distinct free-flowing natural sources: an iron-rich yellow-brown cloudy water that warms you to the core, and the rare “Sumi-yu” (ink-colored water) that springs from fissures in the earth. Guest rooms are calm Japanese-style rooms showcasing traditional aesthetics, with panoramic views of the gorge’s seasonal beauty from your window.
