A northern resort area stretching across the suburbs of Sapporo. Chateraise Gateaux Kingdom Sapporo Hotel & Spa features a carefully designed Hotel, a resort spa, natural Onsen, and dining options where you can savor the flavors of Hokkaido. Enjoy a blissful, relaxing stay at this exceptional resort destination that welcomes a wide variety of guests from Japan and around the world.
Perched 60 meters above sea level on the heights of Hiraiso Cape, surrounded by Ishikari Bay, you can take in sweeping views of the endless blue sea and sky, with a full panorama of Otaru Bay and downtown Otaru spread out below. Ginrinso, a historic herring mansion and ryotei-style Accommodation with Onsen, is regarded as a representative example of fishery architecture. It was originally built as the residence of a major fishing magnate in Yoichi, once famed at the base of the Shakotan Peninsula as a prosperous herring fishing ground. Its grand yet elegant presence has only grown more dignified over more than 140 years since its founding, and it is now counted among “Hokkaido’s 100 Cultural Properties.” While preserving its traditional exterior and furnishings as faithfully as possible, we have enhanced our modern Facilities to pursue even greater comfort and functionality. In the rear garden overlooking the Sea of Japan, we have newly added an open-air rock bath rich in refined charm; reborn under the name “Hiraiso Onsen,” we begin anew as one of Otaru’s newest tourist attractions.
A sanctuary of quiet within a kura storehouse. A retreat stay in Otaru, Hokkaido, with 19 rooms—each with a private Onsen bath. Otaru is a town shaped by the legacy of Kitamaebune trading ships. The clear air of Asarigawa Onsen and the satoyama landscapes that shift with the seasons embrace visitors in deep tranquility. All 19 rooms, designed by architect Makoto Nakayama around the theme of “stillness,” feature natural hot-spring baths. Enjoy a full range of bathing options, including an enzyme bath supervised by Otaka Kohso—an Otaru tradition for over 100 years—as well as private Onsen and sauna facilities. Savor cuisine that layers fermentation techniques onto Hokkaido ingredients, along with carefully selected drinks including Hokkaido wines.
Our 8,000-tsubo garden, begun by my great-grandfather in the early Showa era, is surrounded by trees over 100 years old and is a celebrated spot in Otaru, with 200 cherry trees in full bloom in early May. From late May through June, wisteria trellises and azaleas follow, and in summer you can enjoy viburnum snowballs, hydrangeas, and carefully tended roses. I especially love the autumn foliage in late October, and the deep winter snow that transforms everything into a pure white landscape is equally refreshing for the soul.
Located in the serene Asarigawa Onsen area of Otaru, this Resort Hotel offers a relaxing atmosphere with a candle-lit atrium lobby and an illuminated rock-built open-air bath. The comprehensive facilities, including tennis courts, a pool, a gym, and a spa, are also appealing.
Complimentary buffet breakfast with Japanese and Western options! Equipped with a radium artificial Onsen large bath. Free internet access available in the lobby.
Enjoy natural Onsen in the advanced industrial area, the maritime gateway of Sapporo! Equipped with 112 free parking spaces without the need for Reservation, exceeding the number of guest rooms! Excellent access to Otaru and Asahikawa. We offer a complimentary welcome drink bar for our guests!
