Kyoto has the term "ho-kko-ri." After a busy day's work, enjoying carefully brewed tea while saying "ho-kko-ri" expresses a feeling of relaxation. Gion Shinmonso strives daily to be a "ho-kko-ri" Property where guests can relieve their travel fatigue. We look forward to welcoming you.
We have created a Hotel with uniquely designed Rooms, each thoughtfully crafted to honor the special reasons that bring you to Kyoto. We hope your time here will be truly special and one of a kind. With heartfelt care, we have prepared each Room so that every view touches your heartstrings and becomes an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime memory of your journey.
We have designed each Room with genuine artworks, creating the ambiance of an "art-loving Hotel" that feels like a museum. Focusing on your stay in the Room, we provide a special time for you to unwind and enrich your heart in an elegant and high-quality space. All guest Rooms feature spacious Western-style interiors with ceilings over 3 meters high, specially designed Hollywood-style beds for optimal sleep, and ceiling-mounted humidifiers to ensure the utmost comfort.
Embrace what’s good for your mind and body, and enjoy it even more. From Kyoto, we introduce a new lifestyle called “GOOD NATURE,” which allows you to incorporate healthy and beneficial elements into your life in your own way. In 2020, we became the first Hotel in the world to receive the “WELL Certification (v1),” awarded to buildings that prioritize environmental and health considerations. Our features include a green wall in the courtyard that replicates Kyoto’s vegetation and designs made with natural materials. We also offer a variety of activities such as yoga and meditation. Since our opening, we have aimed for a “sustainable, non-disposable society” by encouraging guests to bring their own toothbrushes, hairbrushes, and razors instead of providing them in guest rooms. (As of April 2022, amenities are available for purchase at the front desk, with proceeds supporting circular economy initiatives.)

From higher-floor Rooms, you can also watch Daimonji Bonfire (Gozan Okuribi). In addition—rare for buildings along the Kamo River—there is a rooftop terrace available for guests.
