"Namazu" Aquarium Experience: Past and Present As Japan's oldest aquarium, "Namazu" once served as both an aquarium and a supplier to the market during tough economic times. "Takatoro" Fusion of Old and New Landmarks In the past, Mount Tenpo, once Japan's lowest mountain, featured a tall lantern ("Takatoro") as a guide for ships. Today, the giant Ferris wheel has taken on that role and stands as a symbol of this area. The rooftop bath features a replica of the Takatoro, one of our Facility's unique touches. The name "Bentencho" originates from Benzaiten, the only goddess among the Seven Lucky Gods. In 1698 (Genroku 11), "Ichioka Shinden," the largest reclaimed land in Osaka Bay, was developed in what is now Minato Ward, Osaka City. However, even after its completion, frequent flooding caused devastation to the fields and farmland. To calm these floods, Benzaiten—a deity deeply connected to water—was enshrined at a meeting hall that served as a base for this reclaimed land. Inspired by the water goddess Benzaiten, our Facility has been designed with a theme of "beauty and water." The rooftop features an open-air bath, theater facilities, a garden, and a living room with large sofas for relaxation. We also provide state-of-the-art beauty appliances for your convenience. ■ Konjakuso Osaka Tempozan - Sakura - This area, Tempozan, is located at the mouth of the Ajigawa River. It was created in 1831 and 1832 by dredging the river on a large scale and piling up the dredged soil to form a mountain. At 4.53 meters high, it is said to be Japan's lowest mountain. Tempozan is a scenic spot blessed with views of mountains and sea from all directions. Pine and cherry trees were planted here, along with tea houses and observation pavilions, making it a popular relaxation spot for locals in the past. This accommodation has been designed with cherry blossoms as its concept to make your time spent with family or friends truly special. As you enter through the entrance, you will be greeted by a bonsai cherry tree reminiscent of Tempozan's past as a symbol of this accommodation.
