In the first year of Ansei (1854), the founder of our Property, Iwakuniya Sobei, received permission from the magistrate's office to develop the area. He built a bridge over the Momiji River in front of the Property and established a teahouse by the stream as a resting place for travelers. This marked the beginning of "Miyajima no Yado Iwaso." Later, the bustling popularity continued, and the Property officially opened as a Ryokan in the early Meiji period. The main entrance building dates back to 1892 (Meiji 25), and the lobby was constructed during renovations in 1981 (Showa 56). Today, we draw natural Onsen, a rarity on the island, and offer accommodations in the main building, new building, and detached rooms. As a Ryokan nestled within a national park, we strive daily to ensure our guests can relax and enjoy their stay.

The mildly alkaline water is gentle on the skin with beautifying effects, enriched with minerals from ancient geological layers—enjoy this "ancient Onsen" at your leisure. The lounge includes a mini-library where you can explore carefully selected books or try glass pens paired with Sailor Ink made in Hiroshima/Kure at your convenience. On a gentle slope overlooking the distant Miyajima, the garden Property "Sekitei" stands serenely. From the Room, the view of the Seto islands beyond the hedges cleanses the soul. Stepping into the garden, the ridgelines of mountains resembling a landscape painting unfold behind, stirring the heart. Realizing that this Property embodies the charm of the "azumaya" nestled at the foot of the mountains depicted in the landscape painting and the garden's ambiance, one cannot help but be impressed. Thus, one feels compelled to spend time here, living like a hermit in tranquility. "Miyajima Grand Hotel Arimoto" is a Ryokan with a history dating back to the early Edo period, now run by its 20th generation. It is the closest accommodation to Itsukushima Shrine and the oldest accommodation in Miyajima, welcoming numerous guests over the years.In 1974, it opened a new annex on an elevated location behind the shrine, moving from its original site along Ari-no-Ura beach. The Ryokan has since been dedicated to providing hospitality to visitors of Itsukushima Shrine and guests from across Japan and overseas, allowing them to enjoy Miyajima's natural beauty and rich history. Miyajima Mori no Yado is a National Lodge located within Omoto Park, at the foot of the natural monument Misen Primeval Forest. Omoto Park is a rare place in the world where large fir trees grow near the coastline, blending the scent of the sea with the fragrance of the forest. It has long been a famous spot for cherry blossoms and is counted among the Eight Views of Itsukushima for its beauty. Additionally, within the park lies Omoto Shrine, an ancient shrine said to have been established even before Itsukushima Shrine. During the winter festival Hyakutematsuri and the summer Miyajima Grand Festival Kangen-sai, ceremonial boats dock here, and rituals are performed. Right in front of the lodge is the Miyajima Aquarium, allowing you to rediscover the charm of Miyajima while staying at Miyajima Mori no Yado, surrounded by the rich natural beauty of the sea and mountains.
