“Sawando” means “a place where rivers meet.” In December 1998, Onsen water was brought to this area—long used as a gateway to Kamikochi—and Sawando Onsen was born. The property boasts a milky-white natural onsen and open-air baths available 24 hours. Separate open-air baths for men and women are provided, offering a unique experience of bathing under a starry sky. Dinner is renowned for its hotpot made with natural mushrooms harvested from the local mountains, featuring mushrooms personally gathered by the owner, along with Shinshu's specialty horse sashimi.
