My family requested a trip to Kamikochi and Shirahone Onsen, so I made a Reservation at the long-admired Awanoyu with its milky-blue waters—and they were thrilled. When we arrived, we were impressed by the thoughtful attention to every detail, and by the chef’s outstanding dishes featuring local ingredients and seasonal flavors. The Onsen was unlike any we had experienced before, leaving both body and mind completely refreshed. We were also deeply moved by the understated hospitality of the proprietress and all the staff. I think this is a very satisfying Accommodation. Although it is not an Accommodation within Kamikochi, if you are trekking from Taisho Pond to Kappa Bridge, I would recommend this Accommodation even more. We were able to park until 3:00 PM the next day, and it was also possible to use the Onsen for a day trip after the trek. The staff’s smiles were delightful, and it was a wonderful, relaxing Accommodation.
