Kamisuwa Onsen × Highly rated Hotel·Ryokan for Onsen and bath

We stay here every year, and since the rebranding and reopening, both the cuisine and the service have been taken to an even higher level—making for a truly satisfying stay. I was genuinely impressed by the chef’s careful selection of ingredients and the time and effort put into each dish. Even breakfast featured thoughtfully prepared items, and our food-loving family was more than satisfied. Being able to see the chef at the end of the meal and exchange a few words made dining even more special. The course itself reflected the chef’s warm personality, which makes us look forward to our next visit. We would love to return in a different season. Thank you for making our family vacation such a meaningful time.

It was a wonderful Accommodation. We were completely satisfied with both the Room and the meals, and the panoramic view over Lake Suwa was truly beautiful and soothing. The Onsen had excellent water quality, allowing us to relax at ease. We also appreciated the complimentary beer after bathing. We even received sightseeing boat tickets, so we were able to fully enjoy exploring Lake Suwa. This is an Accommodation we would definitely like to stay at again.

From the moment I arrived at the Ryokan, the Hotel staff warmly welcomed me, and check-in was smooth. Everyone on the Hotel team was highly professional, and the property was spotless, making my stay very comfortable. The food had delicate flavors, and the portions were just right—neither too much nor too little. Both dinner and breakfast felt perfectly balanced. The baths are cleaned once between check-in and the next morning, with a men’s/women’s switch as well. I also appreciated being able to use them multiple times even late at night or early in the morning.

Both dinner and breakfast were served in a private dining Room, so we could relax and eat at our own pace. The service timing was perfect, and we were fully satisfied with the quality and generous portions of the meals. We also loved that they featured plenty of locally sourced ingredients. The fireworks were spectacular from the rooftop, and the open-air bath in our Room was excellent.

I stay here when I have business trips to the Suwa area. It had been a while since my last stay, as I hadn’t had the chance to stay recently. The room was clean and comfortable. I especially like the large public bath, and even on a one-night stay, I used it twice—at night and again the next morning. I’d like to stay here again on my next business trip.

Both the Room and the large public bath were very clean, and we had a comfortable stay. The food was also well seasoned. The 10-minute fireworks at Lake Suwa exceeded our expectations and became a wonderful memory. It was such a great Accommodation that we could hardly find anything to complain about. When we visit Lake Suwa again, we will definitely stay here again!

Our family stayed for one night. The Accommodation was excellent, and all the staff were truly kind, so we had a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much. When we checked in, we received a 100th-anniversary booklet for a Ryokan at Tateshina Onsen (a sister property?). It sounded familiar, so after returning home I checked and found that we had actually stayed there when my son was still very young (nearly 20 years ago), because the tatami-mat bath felt safe for children. I’m sorry to say I had completely forgotten, but it felt like a wonderful connection. Next time, I would love to visit Tateshina Onsen as well along with this Accommodation.

I have stayed at several Accommodations in Kamisuwa Onsen before, but this Accommodation was the best. The breathtaking view from the Room and the spacious, open bath were outstanding. Dinner was served in a private room with a great atmosphere, and every dish was carefully prepared and delicious—you could really feel the chef’s thoughtfulness. The staff were also very courteous, and I had a wonderful time throughout my stay.

This Accommodation is very popular and hard to book, but I was lucky to get a Reservation and this is my second stay. The building is old, so you can hear noise from outside the Room, but once you get used to it, it’s not an issue. The meals are generous and delicious—I almost worry it’s okay to stay at such a low price. I still haven’t seen all the nearby sights, so I’d love to come again.

I made a Reservation in a hurry due to unforeseen circumstances and ended up making several mistakes, but the front desk staff were very kind and helpful. Although the building and Facility feel a bit dated, the room was more spacious than expected, I was able to fully relax and enjoy the Onsen, and breakfast was properly prepared and delicious. Overall, I was more satisfied than I had imagined. I would definitely like to stay here again. Thank you very much.

I would have been happy if there had been an Onsen within walking distance nearby. The staff were very helpful, from guiding us to the parking lot to handling check-in and check-out. Some breakfast items ran out, so I would have liked better restocking.

This is my second stay. The Room is thoroughly cleaned, feels very fresh, and is extremely comfortable. However, the stairs are steep and there are steps, so it may be a bit difficult for guests with weak legs or mobility issues. That said, the best part is that natural Onsen water comes directly from the bathroom faucet. It’s a private Onsen bathroom. The water temperature is just right, so you can soak and relax at your own pace. Lake Suwa spreads out right in front of you across the road from the building—amazing views. It was cherry blossom season, and we were able to enjoy hanami at a leisurely pace. It was a very comfortable trip.

The female staff member at check-in was very pleasant. Since I only came back to the Hotel to sleep, I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but the Room was clean, and although the bath was small, the temperature was just right. The kamameshi for breakfast was also delicious. Overall, it was very good for me. I’d like to stay here again when I travel to Suwa. Thank you for your hospitality.

We arrived a little early, kindly left our car, and took a stroll around the area. Right away, we visited Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya Shrine next door. In the backstreets of this historic townscape, you can find Onsen springs here and there—perfect for wandering at leisure. Both inside and outside the property felt very clean, showing careful management throughout. The staff’s smiles, service, and conversation were all refined; we truly felt their hospitality and attentiveness, which made our stay very comfortable. From the Room we stayed in—named “Kirishima”—we enjoyed a view of the grove surrounding Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya Shrine, full of charm and atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast featured local ingredients, and everything was delicious. We could also sense how dedicated the staff were, which made dining even more enjoyable. Bathing in the panoramic large public bath while looking out over the townscape glowing at dusk was exceptional. The water was a gentle Onsen that seemed to softly cling to the skin. Although it wasn’t in our original plans, we stopped by Harmo Museum about 7–8 minutes away by car after receiving a recommendation as we checked out. Driving along the well-maintained lakeside of Lake Suwa and enjoying wonderful paintings became a great memory for us. It was a truly relaxing Accommodation for adults—wonderful in every way. We used this Hotel for a motorcycle touring trip. Before our stay, we contacted the Hotel and asked, “Do you have parking for five motorcycles?” The staff kindly told us they would prepare a place to park. When we arrived, they had properly secured a parking area for us, and we were especially impressed that it was covered. Since motorcycles can be affected by rain, having a covered space is ideal. In the evening, they also let us use part of the restaurant for about an hour to discuss the next day’s route, which we truly appreciated. Breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes and was delicious. We would definitely like to stay again when we visit that area next time. Thank you very much—we are truly grateful.

The interior had been renovated and was very clean. The bath used natural hot spring water and felt silky-smooth. All the staff were very dedicated, which made our stay pleasant.

We stayed in a detached Room. There were four of us, and it was very spacious with a beautiful interior—we were extremely satisfied. From the open-air bath on the 11th floor, we had a panoramic view of Lake Suwa. The meals also included free alcoholic beverages, and the staff were very attentive, so we had a truly wonderful time. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve stayed here (probably 5+). It’s hard to find an Accommodation you can stay at within “one Shibusawa” during peak season—there are fewer options to begin with, and the limited supply gets snapped up instantly. But this place (the roadside-type chain, *standard brand only*) is a safe choice. I’ve said it many times: having the bare minimum—parking, a large public bath, breakfast, and a Room where you can spend the night alone without being made uncomfortable—is surprisingly hard. Even within this chain type, these basics can sometimes be missing for reasons that aren’t the Hotel’s fault. In short: it’s necessary and sufficient, so it works. If you want other reasons—an open-air bath, gourmet food, etc.—look for another Accommodation. (There are plenty around Lake Suwa… though they’ll easily exceed “one Shibusawa.”)
