A group of nationally registered tangible cultural properties, masterfully assembled by temple carpenters without a single nail. Time carried on since the monk Garyo, and handed down through 47 generations as guardians of the waters. In the garden moss, in the temperature of the water, in the cypress beams—1,300 years of time quietly seep through. Spend a night within it, and the rhythms of everyday life gently begin to unwind.

Beniya Mukayu is a villa-like Accommodation built to embrace a natural mountain garden, designed with an open, airy feel that lets the outdoor scenery flow in. With only 16 guest Rooms, every Room features a private open-air hot spring bath fed directly from the source and facing the mountain garden. “Mukayu” means simply being natural, without artifice. Property Kuraya Hachijuhachi, named after the character 'Rice', began by creating rice fields within its premises. Through rice cultivation, we aim to connect with nature and foster a spirit of cooking that cherishes the seasons. The beautiful rice fields, showcasing the charm of each season, spread out in front of the lobby to warmly welcome you.

Approximately 20 minutes by train from Kanazawa and 30 minutes by car from Komatsu Airport. Within walking distance of the accommodation, you can enjoy exploring valleys and strolling through town. All guest rooms face the valley, offering an extraordinary experience of nature that changes with the seasons and time of day. We provide a warm yet sophisticated stay, blending traditional Japanese culture—such as food, tea, sake, and crafts—with a modern perspective.

Though the surface of the water changes from moment to moment, the hot spring continues to flow abundantly beyond time. Its presence recalls Basho’s teaching of “Fueki Ryuko”—that the unchanging and the ever-changing share the same source. Since receiving our charge from Gen’emon Araya, head steward of the hot spring under the Maeda family of the former Daishoji Domain in Kaga, we have carried forward—day by day in our work—the essence of what must remain unchanged and what should evolve. This is the spirit of hospitality our Accommodation hopes to nurture for generations to come.
