This was my first stay here, and it felt far more fulfilling than you’d expect from just one night and two days. From the warm welcome on arrival, everything was handled with great care. The staff’s hospitality left a lasting impression, and throughout my stay they were attentive to even the smallest details. From start to finish—including the send-off at departure—I felt genuinely well looked after. Rather than feeling formal or scripted, it truly felt like each guest was treated as an individual. The Room had a calm, relaxing atmosphere, and best of all was the private open-air bath attached to the Room. Being able to soak in an Onsen at my own pace whenever I wanted was a special luxury, and it felt so good I wanted to go in again and again. Enjoying the open-air bath while taking in the garden and surrounding nature helped me forget everyday fatigue. The meals were also carefully prepared dish by dish—delicious not only in flavor, but also in presentation and seasonal touches. I enjoyed them so much that mealtime itself became one of the highlights of the trip. The overall atmosphere of the Ryokan is wonderful as well—quiet, serene, and naturally calming just by being there. Everything is beautifully maintained down to the smallest details, making it an ideal space for a true escape from daily life. Even though it was a short stay of one night and two days, by checkout I was surprised at how much lighter I felt both physically and mentally—I was able to fully recharge. This is a Ryokan that honestly makes you think, “I want to stay here again.” If you’re looking for Accommodation in Hakone, I highly recommend staying here at least once.

We stayed here when I was seven months pregnant for a maternity trip. It was our first time staying in Gora, and with so many Accommodations to choose from, we decided based on the in-room open-air bath, the Reviews of the food, and the high level of service—and it was absolutely the right choice. Every dish was delicious, and from check-in to check-out we had a truly comfortable experience. It was our last trip together as a couple before the baby arrives, and it became a very memorable journey. My husband also said that although he has stayed at many Accommodations before, this one left a particularly strong impression and he was very satisfied. We would definitely like to stay again.

From the front desk with a panoramic view of Hakone’s great natural scenery to the Room with a private open-air bath, everything was excellent! The food was also very satisfying. The incense service and drink service were plentiful and much appreciated. The staff were very kind as well. We’ll be back!

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary trip. From the moment we arrived until the very end, we truly had a wonderful time. The Room was spacious and spotless, with thoughtful attention to every detail. It was so comfortable that we honestly wished we could stay there forever. Every single dish was outstanding, and the dining experience itself became a special memory. Because it was our anniversary, you even prepared a surprise dessert plate for us. We were deeply touched by your unexpected kindness. All of the staff were warm throughout our stay, full of attentive care and hospitality, and we found ourselves thinking again and again how glad we were to have chosen this place. The Room, the meals, the Onsen, and especially the staff’s thoughtfulness—everything was exceptional. We couldn’t be more satisfied with our stay. We have stayed at many Accommodations over the years, but this is without a doubt the best one we have ever experienced. We are truly glad we chose “Hakone Gen” for such an important anniversary. When we visit Hakone again, we would love to stay here again. Thank you very much for such a wonderful time and unforgettable memories.

The building, Rooms, and all shared areas are stylish and spotless. The services and meals are excellent. There is nothing around the Hotel, so I was able to relax quietly in the in-room Onsen.

From the moment we boarded the elevator to the Ryokan from in front of Sounzan Station, it was an exciting experience. The Accommodation and all the staff welcomed us with a warm atmosphere, and everything—the Room, the carefully prepared meals, the Onsen, and the views—was wonderfully soothing. We were able to spend a slow, quiet, luxurious time. Thank you very much.

It was a truly wonderful Ryokan with a nostalgic, traditional atmosphere while still feeling very clean. I especially recommend the private open-air bath in the guest room—it was incredibly relaxing. We had both breakfast and dinner, and they were excellent in both taste and portion size. Also, even though it was last-minute, I asked on the day for a surprise plate for my wife, and they kindly arranged it for us. I don’t usually return to the same place when traveling, but this is somewhere I’d like to visit again next year. Highly recommended.
