We stayed here for the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival. The building seems old, but the Room, floors, and Facility are clean. The meals are very delicious. There was plenty of rice, vegetables, and side dishes, and we ended up eating too much at every meal. The Onsen has several types of baths, so you can relax and enjoy it comfortably. We would love to stay here again for the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival next year.

After descending from Mt. Fuji in heavy rain, the warm Onsen was incredibly soothing! They accommodated our unusual requests, and we truly felt their sincerity. The hoto for dinner was also absolutely delicious!! Both the international staff and the housekeeping team were kind and welcoming. There were many inbound guests, but I hope this place continues to thrive. When we consulted in advance, they also offered a Shuttle Service, which was a huge help. We like mid-scale hotels, and for us—focused mainly on sightseeing—this is the best value Accommodation! We had a very comfortable stay. Next time, I’d like to visit when the weather is clear enough to see Mt. Fuji.

The open-air bath was truly wonderful, and the water temperature was very comfortable, so I could soak for a long time. We stayed here as a couple in our early 50s. The Accommodation was spotless down to every corner, and we had a very comfortable stay. [Room & Bath] The Room with an open-air bath had truly breathtaking views, and we enjoyed the bath three times—after arrival, before bed, and again the next morning. The water temperature was a little on the lukewarm side, so it sometimes felt slightly chilly if we stayed in for a long time, but it was still very relaxing. We also appreciated the spacious wash area with a large mirror, which made getting ready in the morning very easy. [Dining] For dinner, we had the “HAKKO Yaki-Shabu Course.” The main yaki-shabu was exquisite—the meat practically melted in our mouths! The shiitake mushrooms and fried potatoes were also delicious, with carefully crafted flavors you wouldn’t normally get at home. We were fully satisfied all the way through to the ochazuke to finish and dessert. For breakfast, we enjoyed the “Onigiri Bento” while taking in the wonderful view. The portion size was slightly modest, but it was just right for us as a couple. The piping hot roasted green tea was rich and very tasty. We were also delighted by thoughtful touches such as complimentary mineral water—this is a wonderful Accommodation where we would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

The ocean-view location was wonderful. Every dish was delicious, and we were blown away by the lavish and outstanding sashimi platter.

Dinner was delicious as well—an unusual style of half-buffet with robatayaki grilling—and the large public bath with an open-air bath was very relaxing. The staff were courteous and attentive, which we really appreciated. The Facility is a bit old, but we chose this Accommodation in Tateshina as the place to commemorate reuniting with my wife for the first time in 50 years, and we were very satisfied. We stayed as a family of five, and the hospitality was outstanding. Although they call it a welcome drink, the drink corner was available almost all day throughout our Hotel stay, and until dinner there was even unlimited sparkling wine. In addition to the dagashi (Japanese snack) buffet service and amenities such as lotion, they also offered rentals like a baby formula maker and board games—everything you could ask for. The manga corner wasn’t just about the number of volumes; it also had sofas and cozy hideaway-like spaces, so we spent blissful time there. There are sofa reading areas and kids’ spaces throughout the building, making it truly relaxing.\nThe breakfast and dinner buffets didn’t use luxury ingredients, but there were many delicious, well-thought-out dishes. Alcohol was also all-you-can-drink, and we could compare local sake varieties. The kids-only buffet area and automatic pancake oven were fun, and we also enjoyed local specialties such as hoto hot pot and Fujinomiya yakisoba.\nThere were many international guests as well, but plenty of multilingual signs were posted around the Hotel, and everyone followed Japanese manners, so there was no stress at all.\nBecause the building has some age to it, it had a Showa-retro feel; however, Facility such as the toilets were updated to modern models, so it didn’t bother us at all for a family trip.\nWe would love to come again with our whole family.

The seafood was delicious. The meal came with a whole crab and was very filling. The sashimi was also excellent, and our whole family was very satisfied. We enjoyed breakfast while looking out at the sea. The private sauna is also highly recommended!

We visited this Accommodation on the last day of Silver Week, hoping to relax and reconnect with nature. We’ve stayed at glamping-style Hotels before, but since this Facility is run by an outdoor gear company, it felt even more like real camping. The Shuttle Service from Nagano Station made access very convenient for us as we were traveling by train. By chance, we were the only couple staying there, so it felt almost like having the place to ourselves. The dinner was incredibly creative, unique, and delicious. The paired drinks were thoughtfully matched all the way through dessert—truly a wonderful meal. Not only the dishes but also the bread and desserts were outstanding; they tasted as if a specialist had made them. Although the chef is young, he is clearly very talented. The nut bread at breakfast was especially memorable. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great, so we couldn’t see the stars or sunrise. Still, we fully enjoyed burning plenty of firewood at the campfire bar and spending a lovely evening chatting over drinks while listening to live music. Although the open season is short—from early summer to early autumn—we would love to return during the autumn foliage season. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

The Onsen water quality was excellent. From arrival until departure the next morning, we could use the large public bath at any time, and we enjoyed soaking in it many times. The building was kept very clean, and the staff at the Accommodation were wonderful. Although it is located in the central area of Shiga Kogen, it is a quiet environment. The air felt completely different from the heat down below. I think it is also a great base for trekking to places like Takamagahara and Higashidateyama. The only disappointment was that the weather was bad, so we couldn’t see the spectacular Northern Alps view that should have been visible from the window. Next time, I’d like to come back for a retry—possibly during ski season as well.

We visited as a couple and stayed in a Room for two with a private bath. The view from the bath was amazing—we were able to see a sea of clouds, which was the highlight of our stay. If I had to wish for something, it would be for the window to open wider. At first, it seemed like there weren’t many staff members, but every time we passed someone, they greeted us warmly. The Accommodation was quiet, and we could also enjoy complimentary drinks on the balcony, which was wonderful. The road getting there was quite tough, so it felt like an accomplishment! It was such a warm Accommodation—they even checked in with us about the weather.

We stayed here for our ski trip. The location is perfect, right in front of the ski resort. While there are minor points that could affect ratings, overall we were satisfied. The Facility is undeniably old, but the service was good and the meals were as expected. One concern was the slight odor from the drainage in the washing area, which was unfortunate given how great the Onsen was. Also, the cheesecake is absolutely delicious!

Kappo Ryokan Nihonkai Dinner: Boat Platter Enjoyed a luxurious meal with crab, sashimi, and clam rice, leaving us completely satisfied. The Room offered a great view of the sea.

Found this accommodation on the way to Kanazawa. It was a plan featuring blackthroat seaperch, abalone, and crab. The facility is old, but the quality of the bath was truly excellent. The high salt content made it very warming, and I stayed cozy for a long time. The room was a bit disappointing. Since it was named "Miharashi," I had been looking forward to enjoying the view from the window, but unfortunately, the view wasn't great. However, dining in a private room offered a somewhat decent view. The food came in an overwhelming quantity! Everything was delicious and left me completely full. However, there wasn’t any menu or explanation about the dishes provided, which was slightly disappointing. Breakfast included an entire Pacific saury fish—quite surprising! Despite eating so much at dinner that I thought I couldn’t eat anymore, I ended up finishing everything because even the rice tasted amazing. I’m really glad we chose this accommodation for our stay!

The front desk staff were helpful, and the Room was clean and nice.\nWhat was disappointing was that the open-air bath was unavailable, and it would have been better if the Room air conditioner temperature could be adjusted more precisely.

The top recommendation is the private open-air bath on the rooftop. There are two options, A and B; if you can book the evening slot to watch the sunset, choose A. Since the rooftop bath has only one faucet and no shampoo or other amenities, it’s best to wash up first in the large public bath on the first floor, which is fully equipped. Guests are responsible for laying out their own futons, including putting on the sheets. This may not suit those looking for a classic Ryokan experience where your bedding is prepared while you’re at dinner, but room rates are more reasonable as a result. The Shinshu beef sukiyaki dinner was excellent. We bought drinks and snacks at Yamauchi Shoten across from the Ryokan (open until 7:00 PM—please note), but we ended up too full and had to take them back with us the next day. The Ryokan is also perfectly located for visiting multiple public baths, making it easy to take a break at the Accommodation between stops around mealtimes. Shuttle Service times are set to match Nagano Dentetsu limited express trains. If you’d like to explore town after check-out, you can take a bus (e.g., from Shibu-Wago bus stop) to Yudanaka Station, but be aware there may be little time between arriving at the station and your train’s departure.
