Within walking distance of Tomari Port, this Accommodation is in an ideal location for those heading out to the Kerama Islands. The Room was spotless, and the front desk service was excellent—nothing to fault. Their efforts, such as complimentary drinks, are impressive, and having a pool is another big plus. Personally, I highly recommend it. It felt like there were many international guests and some lively visitors. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it may not suit those who prefer a quiet Accommodation.

When I went to the bath on the 12th floor, I didn’t realize the bath towels were under the TV. Someone I shared the elevator with had brought one, so I asked and found out that’s where they were. The towel location might be a little hard to notice.

The Room was spacious, and dinner was delicious—we were very satisfied. We were warmly welcomed at the entrance and guided for parking, which made it feel like we were staying at a Ryokan. At this time of year in Zao Onsen, there are few places where you can have dinner, so choosing a plan with dinner included was the right decision. The Yamagata beef shabu-shabu was excellent.

If you’re craving delicious fish, this is highly recommended! You can enjoy truly tasty fish until you’re completely satisfied. Of course, the Room is also comfortable, and it’s a nice bonus to have a view of Mt. Fuji! The horse mackerel at breakfast was so good that I bought some to take home on the way back. A wonderful Accommodation.

The staff provide courteous and kind service. The bath and in-room amenities are well stocked. As it was midwinter, a warming gel pack had been placed inside the bedding, and we appreciated the thoughtful touch of a cozy, warm futon. The Room air conditioner kept us plenty warm, and a fan heater was also provided as a backup to further heat the room if needed. The meals were excellent in both taste and portion size. We were able to fully enjoy spiny lobster until we were completely satisfied. Overall, it is a wonderful Accommodation with an elegant atmosphere.

This was my first stay, and it was truly a wonderful Accommodation. I have stayed at island Accommodations several times, but this one had a different feel. Having the sea so close by—and being able to see it from the Room—was great. The olive kaiseki cuisine was exceptional. It was fun and delicious to enjoy different kinds of olives in each dish. I also enjoyed relaxing in the private bath, but I did notice that the drainage seemed a bit poor—the shower water didn’t drain easily, which was inconvenient.

We stayed here to celebrate a birthday. The sashimi came with daikon carved into a crane, and there was also sekihan (red rice). Everything looked beautiful and tasted great, leaving both our stomachs and hearts full. All of the staff were wonderful and very considerate, which made our time here truly enjoyable. We stayed during the Marine Day three-day weekend.\nIt was a hot, sunny day, but upon arrival we were greeted warmly and impressed by the smooth valet parking—truly the quality you’d expect from a luxury Accommodation.\nThe front desk procedures and guidance were clear and courteous. We were shown to our Room with care, and both the in-room amenities and the private open-air bath were spacious. The natural Onsen water was crystal clear, allowing us to relax and unwind at length. Dinner was a kaiseki course that felt far beyond “standard”—everything was delicious. Breakfast also offered a wide variety of dishes, and we especially enjoyed comparing different types of Yaizu’s famous shaved bonito flakes. We reluctantly prepared to leave and checked out.\nThis is an Accommodation we definitely want to plan a Reservation for again next time.

This Hotel came highly recommended by a friend for its wonderful breakfast, and it truly lived up to the praise. Both the buffet and the kaiseki-style breakfast were delicious and fun. Everything looked so good that I ended up eating far too much, so a bit of self-control might be needed (as usual, I still wasn’t hungry by lunchtime). The free-flow alcohol option also really lifted my spirits! In addition to breakfast, I’d also highlight the great location—about a 5-minute walk from Hakodate Station and around 3 minutes from the streetcar stop. The drum-type washer/dryer in the Room was very convenient during rainy weather and in seasons when you tend to sweat more (detergent is provided). One small note: the in-house loungewear is labeled “M” and “F,” so if you assume “M” means “women’s,” you may end up laughing like I did—“M” actually means a larger size, so it was very baggy on me. There are loungewear samples near the shop on 2F1, so I recommend checking them while you’re there to look at the pillow selection. I recommend both breakfast options (buffet and kaiseki), and the large public bath spanning two floors was also enjoyable. It’s a Hotel where I’d definitely like to book a Multiple Night Stay next time.

It was my first trip with my mother, so I was worried whether she would like it, but she was truly impressed—she said the bath and the meals were unlike anything she had ever experienced. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. There was only one reason I came to Shirahama: To stay at Kuroshio Sou. When people think of Shirahama, many picture the sea and resorts. But what I found here was Wakayama itself. What moved me most at this Accommodation was not only how outstanding the food was. It was Head Chef Etani’s exceptional skill, and his deep respect for the producers who support every single dish. Fishermen. Farmers. Brewers. Roasters. And the artisans who continue to protect Japan’s fermentation culture. The moment I saw the map of producers introduced alongside the meal, I understood what this Accommodation truly values. Through the cuisine, you encounter not only ingredients, but also the people behind them and Wakayama’s climate and character. I was especially impressed by how delicious the soy sauce and Kinzanji miso were at dinner. When I asked about them, I learned they were from Horigawaya Nomura—a producer with over 350 years of history that still preserves traditional craftsmanship using firewood-heated iron kettles—making both their soy sauce and Kinzanji miso in that way today as well. I had originally planned to visit a different soy sauce brewery, but heavy rain made it impossible. Sometimes, the places you cannot reach end up guiding you to the story you were truly meant to find. For me, Kuroshio Sou was exactly that kind of place. The wonderful Onsen gently healed not only my body, but my mind as well. The quiet comfort throughout the building, Chef Etani’s cuisine, and the hospitality of all staff— together they quietly express this Accommodation’s philosophy in everything it does。 As a former chef from Tasmania, there is something I felt deeply: True hospitality is not just serving delicious food; it is helping guests connect with the people and culture that sustain a place。 I now have one more reason to return to Wakayama。 Thank you again from my heart.

The room was new and well cleaned, so I had a very comfortable stay. It’s a bit disappointing that the bathroom is a unit bath, but considering the price, it’s more than sufficient. Breakfast offers a wide variety, so even for long stays you won’t get bored, and it’s delicious—I looked forward to it every day. For those who go diving or snorkeling, there is a fully equipped drying room and showers, which were very convenient to use. I would like to stay here again.
