We were happy to see the energetic Hokkaido dogs again—Miyon, Dan, and Dolly! This Accommodation was satisfying in every way, from the Onsen to the meals, and they even moved our “repeat guest” plaque to our 8th car. Thank you to all the staff for your consistently warm and attentive hospitality.

Having a free-flowing natural Onsen in the Room that you can enjoy 24 hours a day is truly luxurious. The night we stayed, we experienced torrential rain and thunder for the first time and felt the power of the Aso mountains, yet even then we could hear bush warblers singing. It was a trip where we fully enjoyed nature. The hosts were wonderful people, and I understand why this Accommodation is so hard to book. Breakfast was generous, and above all, every dish was delicious—another highlight of our stay. We would love to stay again if we have the chance.

Both the facilities and the staff were top-class—an outstanding Hotel. Every staff member’s dedication and politeness came through in their service, making our stay truly comfortable. In terms of receiving hospitality that exceeds the room rate, I think it offers the best value for money in Tokyo. In particular, the gentleman in the Executive Lounge (the person on the right in the photo) was exceptional—his conversation, service, and cocktail-making skills were all truly first-rate, adding even more value to our stay. He kept an ideal distance while attentively looking after every guest. I give five stars to him for making us feel glad we stayed here and eager to return.

I stay here around the same time every year. This year again, I was able to truly relax and feel refreshed. The staff were attentive, and everyone was wonderful. There are more foreign attendants now, but their Japanese is excellent, and I imagine they are well received by international guests as well. I use a wheelchair, and the considerate support provided was just right, making my stay even more comfortable. Having an Onsen in the Room that I can enjoy anytime is also fantastic. We stayed for one night and two days in May, when the fresh greenery was beautiful. All the staff—at the front desk, in the restaurant, and housekeeping—were very pleasant, and we had a comfortable stay. The Room was spacious, and the view from the window was outstanding. The Italian course meal was also delicious. After check-out, we enjoyed a trip to Chikubu Island from Nagahama Port right in front of the Accommodation. We plan to visit Shiga again and would definitely like to stay here again.

We stayed for one night during extreme heat. The Hotel was very clean, and we were completely satisfied with the Room facilities. The staff’s service was flawless, making our stay extremely satisfying. There doesn’t seem to be much nearby for walking and exploring, but the Hotel itself has a pool for dogs and a slightly small dog run, so it seems like there’s plenty to enjoy in summer. The food was delicious, and service was quick—we never had to wait after ordering drinks. I even had seconds of rice! If I had to mention one thing, travel might be faster if there were more expressways or toll roads—though that’s separate from evaluating the Hotel. We’d like to stay again.

The Room was spacious with an ocean view, and we had a very pleasant stay. The kids enjoyed the pool in the bath area, and we were also able to use games like Othello—putting our phones away and spending a fun time full of laughter. One small disappointment was that the amenity loungewear felt a bit worn, and the ties were loose so it didn’t fit securely. All of the staff were cheerful and also recommended great places to visit in Izu. Thank you very much.

On this trip, we made a Reservation for three twin Rooms for three groups: my son and his wife with their infant, another family, and my third son. The in-room bath was a little small, but it was separate from the toilet, which made it easy to bathe our infant safely in the Room. The view of the sea in Beppu from the Room was also very beautiful. The Onsen was not too hot and felt great. The shower had a ReFa shower head. There was a wide variety of food, and my younger son and daughters-in-law were very satisfied. The staff kindly spoke to my eldest son’s child (who is still only two) and even lent us some toys. They also lent my other daughter-in-law, who was holding an infant, a basket-like baby bed so the baby could lie down, which made her very happy. Thank you to the lounge staff. I was also surprised that guests go barefoot throughout the Hotel—there were no slippers at all. It was very relaxing, and even our toddler felt safe walking around as if we were at home. We were extremely satisfied and would love to stay again if we have another opportunity.

Above all, the hostess is truly soothing. Just seeing her face makes us feel at ease. The Room—especially the bath—is great, and the water temperature is perfect. The hospitality is pleasantly attentive as well. The food is delicious, but it was a bit too much for us. However, they kindly made rice balls for us, and we ended up eating them later that night. This is the best Ryokan for us, and we will come again in winter to enjoy crab.

The Room bath was truly relaxing, and I ended up soaking in it again and again. The weather was great, and the views of Wakasa Bay and the surrounding islands from the Room and the bath were absolutely beautiful. Dinner, featuring mainly local fish, was exceptionally fresh and very filling. I tried my best to finish everything, but for the final sea bream rice cooked in a pot, I had it made into rice balls instead. They also handled my allergies properly, so I could enjoy the meal with peace of mind. I woke up early the next morning, which allowed me to enjoy a stunning sunrise. Breakfast was also made with local ingredients; not only were the individual dishes excellent, but simple items like rice, miso soup, and tofu were especially delicious. After breakfast, I wanted to relax a bit longer and take another bath as well, so if late check-out is available, it would be nice to have that as an option. My mother was very happy too, so we would love to stay again if we have the chance. Thank you very much.

I stayed in a Japanese-style Room with No Meals Included. It was a very quiet environment, and I was able to rest soundly. The Onsen water was excellent, and after bathing my skin felt smooth and silky. The front desk staff were also very courteous, making it a comfortable Accommodation. I would definitely like to stay here again.

I stayed here with my mother. To reduce the burden on my elderly mother as much as possible, I asked about the routes from our Room, and they provided a thorough explanation in advance. They also contacted us to confirm our stay, so we arrived feeling at ease. The Kaga-style dinner was very delicious, and the fireworks visible right in front of our Room were truly impressive—but above all, the Onsen. The spacious large public bath felt as if it continued into Lake Shibayama, and I ended up soaking for a long time. The morning bath while basking in the sunrise was also wonderful. The water was excellent. We were able to relax without any worries and spend a peaceful time. Thank you very much.

This is my third stay, and every time I’ve stayed in a Room with a washing machine, refrigerator, sink, and microwave—simply very convenient. Since Okinawa is hot, you can do laundry right away even after sweating, so you can bring fewer clothes. There is also a large public bath, making the stay truly comfortable. Of course, it doesn’t have a beach or pool like a luxury Resort Hotel, but it’s an ideal location for driving to various beaches. There’s also a convenience store within walking distance and plenty of restaurants nearby—truly a “convenience store Hotel.”

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. There was only one reason I came to Shirahama: To stay at Kuroshio Sou. When people think of Shirahama, many picture the sea and resorts. But what I found here was Wakayama itself. What moved me most at this Accommodation was not only how outstanding the food was. It was Head Chef Etani’s exceptional skill, and his deep respect for the producers who support every single dish. Fishermen. Farmers. Brewers. Roasters. And the artisans who continue to protect Japan’s fermentation culture. The moment I saw the map of producers introduced alongside the meal, I understood what this Accommodation truly values. Through the cuisine, you encounter not only ingredients, but also the people behind them and Wakayama’s climate and character. I was especially impressed by how delicious the soy sauce and Kinzanji miso were at dinner. When I asked about them, I learned they were from Horigawaya Nomura—a producer with over 350 years of history that still preserves traditional craftsmanship using firewood-heated iron kettles—making both their soy sauce and Kinzanji miso in that way today as well. I had originally planned to visit a different soy sauce brewery, but heavy rain made it impossible. Sometimes, the places you cannot reach end up guiding you to the story you were truly meant to find. For me, Kuroshio Sou was exactly that kind of place. The wonderful Onsen gently healed not only my body, but my mind as well. The quiet comfort throughout the building, Chef Etani’s cuisine, and the hospitality of all staff— together they quietly express this Accommodation’s philosophy in everything it does。 As a former chef from Tasmania, there is something I felt deeply: True hospitality is not just serving delicious food; it is helping guests connect with the people and culture that sustain a place。 I now have one more reason to return to Wakayama。 Thank you again from my heart.

This was our first time staying here, and we were very well taken care of. From the warm welcome upon arrival, we were served tea and delicious sweets before being shown to our Room. The guest Room had a clean, modern Japanese style, and we were truly impressed by the wonderful view of the sea from anywhere in the Room—even from the bath. In addition, the Onsen bath had silky, slightly thick water that felt great and left our skin smooth; we enjoyed it many times and were completely satisfied. Both dinner and breakfast were more than enough in quantity, and every dish was delicious. We initially thought the dining area seating might be close together, but it wasn’t at all; we enjoyed chatting while listening to explanations about the dishes from the proprietress and staff. We had been looking for an Accommodation where we could simply relax, enjoy great food, and soak in good hot water—and this was a wonderful Accommodation where we could truly take our time. We’re happy to have found an Accommodation that makes us think, “We definitely want to come again in a different season.”

Thanks to the warm and courteous service, I felt at ease throughout my stay. The location is very convenient if you are traveling by car. For guests arriving by train, a Shuttle Service was also available to Shimoda Station. Because I have many food allergies, I chose a Plan without meals. However, the Accommodation staff kindly recommended local restaurants, and we were fortunate to get a Reservation. I was able to enjoy an outstanding simmered kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), which was absolutely delicious. The young international staff were wonderful as well—their smiles were lovely, their Japanese was excellent, and they worked with great dedication. As someone who can only speak Japanese comfortably, I truly respect them. The bath was also fantastic: the Izu stone in the indoor bath glowed a beautiful blue, and its soft texture felt very pleasant on the skin. The night view of Shimoda Port and the sunset outside the window were stunning. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

The staff were very welcoming, and I was able to relax at a comfortable pace. The lukewarm Onsen was so pleasant that I wanted to stay in it forever, even though the sun outside was blazing. I ordered the whale course; this area is said to be famous for whale. The lean meat had a noticeable smell and wasn’t great, but the unesu (whale belly) was very delicious.
