I stayed just before a long holiday and happened to have the place to myself, so I could relax without any worries. The staff were wonderful and provided attentive service. The homemade fruit liqueurs, jams, and vegetables were delicious—I even forgot to take photos (lol). The only thing that didn’t suit me was the firm pillow, but everything else—the Room, bath, terrace, and more—was lovely. I’d definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much!

We stayed one night with breakfast and dinner included as a family of three. The location is quiet, and the building and Room are clean and not particularly old. However, it seems the property was originally a retreat facility, so even though it is called a Hotel, there is no shop or entertainment Facility. There are also no convenience stores or drugstores nearby. The meals were very delicious, but they were served as a kaiseki-style course rather than a buffet, with dishes brought out in order from appetizers to dessert. Meal times were fixed (breakfast at 7:30 and dinner at 18:30). Dinner in particular was quite early for us, and we couldn’t finish everything because we weren’t hungry enough. The chef seemed to be of Arab background, but both the food and service were excellent. The bath water is natural Onsen and was wonderful. The bathing area isn’t large, but even with six people using the washing area, the showers were manageable. As for the Room, if I had to mention something minor, one of the small light bulbs didn’t turn on. There is air conditioning (central system), but even in August it was cool at night, so we could sleep with it off. Overall it was clean and pleasant; however, not being able to choose meal times felt like having to fit the Hotel’s schedule. It seemed there were several groups staying, but only one other group besides us had breakfast and dinner included; most guests appeared to be No Meals Included. If you stay No Meals Included, please note that most restaurants along the lakeside close by late afternoon. There are also cup noodles available in the vending machine on the first floor.

This was my first stay, and it was a comfortable Accommodation with courteous service. The Room was just the right size, and I could enjoy an evening stroll to nearby shrine events. The bath was not crowded, so I was able to relax. I was satisfied with both the quantity and taste of the meals, and it feels like a hidden gem I’d like to visit in every season. Next time, I’d like to stay in the new wing.

The Facility and the Room felt a bit old, but everything was thoroughly cleaned and very tidy, so we were able to relax comfortably. The bath was also kept clean, and the Onsen felt absolutely wonderful. The meals were mainly mountain vegetables, but they were very delicious. This time we had kiritanpo hot pot, but according to the Reviews, game dishes seem to be popular, so next time I’d like to try them. The doburoku was also great. I’d like to stay at this Accommodation again if I have the chance.

Thank you very much. Although we booked just before Golden Week, we were able to stay in a Room with a lake view. The interior had been renovated, and the tatami, washbasin, toilet, and shower room were all clean. It was especially nice to be able to see Mt. Fuji from the bath. We also enjoyed the delicious meals. Breakfast was a Western-style set. Since many Accommodations serve Japanese-style breakfasts, it felt refreshingly different. As some guests strongly prefer rice in the morning, it would be helpful if you could let guests know at check-in that “tomorrow’s breakfast is Western-style,” ideally with a sample photo. Many of the staff were from overseas, but their service showed they had received training in Japanese-style hospitality.

The Onsen was great, and the meals were excellent as well. However, the Room walls seemed thin, and we could constantly hear an elderly couple in the next room from evening until after midnight and again from early morning.

Other than check-in, check-out, and meals, we hardly met anyone. We were able to fully enjoy an exceptional level of privacy.

I traveled with my son, and we were completely satisfied with the hospitality. If you have time, there seem to be various activities you can enjoy after check-in. (We checked in after 5:00 p.m., so we didn’t use them.) The restaurant food was excellent. It’s a buffet, but it covers most of Yamagata’s local specialties. The main dish—wood-fired Zao beef—really lets you taste the meat’s natural flavor, and it pairs perfectly with red wine. All-you-can-drink wine from Takeda Winery and Woody Farm was included, which was amazing. Even beer (Asahi and Heartland) was all-you-can-drink—what a surprise. Next time, I’d like to stay with my whole family. Thank you very much!

We were very satisfied with the views, the meals, and the staff’s service. Cold water was available before and after bathing, and the Room was kept very clean. There were some insects floating in the open-air bath, but that is to be expected at an Accommodation in the mountains; anyone who complains about it has forgotten that they are in nature. We would like to stay again.

I’ve stayed here before and was very satisfied with the Crab Feast Course, but this time I wanted even more crab, so I chose the Luxury Crab Course. As a result, I was extremely satisfied with both the taste and the portion size. Also, this inn is right in front of the lift area at Hachi-Kita Ski Resort, and being able to use the bath even after check-out is a huge help. Another great service is that guests aged 55 and over can rent equipment for free. There’s also an affiliated rental shop nearby, and the staff were very kind and helpful. Unfortunately it rained that day and conditions were terrible, but thanks to staying at Hisaya, it turned into a ski trip I was happy with.

The locally caught fish dishes were very delicious. Since it wasn’t buffet-style, we were able to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace. The open-air bath had a milky white sulfur spring, with a great atmosphere, and it warmed us up thoroughly. It’s far even from Aomori, but it’s a hidden gem.

During this Go To Travel campaign, I stayed at about 13 properties, and the meals here were the best—just as you’d expect from a kaiseki Ryokan. Everyone should visit at least once.

We stayed on the Couple Plan, and we truly appreciated several services that were not listed in the Plan details, which were extremely helpful for sightseeing in Kusatsu. Services not mentioned in the Plan details: - Shuttle Service to Yubatake after dinner - Free yukata rental - Drop-off to the terminal at check-out - Complimentary coffee, chocolates, and massage chairs in the lounge - Free ice cream in the freezer In addition, both breakfast and dinner were excellent, with great attention to detail throughout—from presentation and side dishes to cooking methods. If we visit Kusatsu again, we would definitely like to stay here again.

Dinner was carefully prepared down to each dish. Breakfast was also delicious, just like a classic Ryokan breakfast. The bath was spacious, and I could relax and take my time. This is an Accommodation I’m very satisfied with and would recommend.

Our family of three stayed for two nights and three days, and it was the perfect trip—deeply relaxing both physically and mentally. We could use the private Onsen as many times as we liked without worrying about time or frequency, which felt wonderfully luxurious. In the evening, listening to the sound of cicadas on the balcony while watching the sunset—and enjoying a beer together as a couple—was unforgettable and helped us forget our everyday busyness. The beach is also close, just a few minutes away by car. We were able to use Koto’s dedicated parking lot right in front of the beach (advance Reservation required) free of charge, which was incredibly helpful. Above all, we were truly moved by the warm hospitality of the proprietress and head chef. Because it’s surrounded by nature there are some insects, but they didn’t bother us at all. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much for your kind care throughout our stay.

The staff were very friendly, and there was a lounge where we could relax and enjoy tea at our leisure. The food was delicious, with just the right portions, and we thoroughly enjoyed the desserts as well.

I wasn’t originally planning to visit Kurokawa Onsen, but a friend recommended it, so I looked for an Accommodation available on my dates and decided to stay. I’m sorry for being rude, but I didn’t have very high expectations. When I entered the Room, it had underfloor heating—even in the washroom. The in-room bath was spacious, and the water quality was excellent; it was such a pleasant Onsen that I wanted to soak again and again. I stayed for two nights. The meals felt carefully prepared with great attention to detail. With course-style feasts you can sometimes start to feel overwhelmed, but that never happened here—strangely enough. I don’t know if it was the chef’s sense and skill, the seasoning, or the choice of ingredients and menu, but everything was truly delicious. I was completely satisfied and felt genuinely happy. After dinner we returned to our Room, and they had warmed our sandals—thank you for such thoughtful care. Thank you as well to all the lovely staff. I hope to visit again. With check-in at 2:00 PM, this Hotel is recommended if you arrive in Kusatsu early and want to sightsee around Yubatake first. However, it’s hard to tell from the map, but walking from the Hotel to the downtown area where Yubatake is located requires going up and down a very steep hill. It’s about a 10-minute walk one way, but the uphill stretch is quite tough. The in-house Facility, public bath, and Room had been renovated and were clean and comfortable, but I was unlucky with my Room—the sound of rain hitting the Facility roof outside the window was loud and made it hard to sleep—so I rated the guest room two stars lower and overall satisfaction one point lower.

This was my second stay, and it was relaxing again. I have stayed at other accommodations in Zao Onsen several times, but this accommodation is highly recommended in every aspect—Onsen, meals, and price. During my previous stay, the elevator directly connected to the open-air bath was out of order, which was inconvenient. This time it had been repaired, making access from the room to the open-air bath smooth—I ended up using it five times. Both dinner and breakfast were served as set meals, and we were very satisfied with the quality and variety. We stayed as a family of three and felt refreshed in every way. We will definitely return. It felt like an Accommodation focused on visiting nearby public baths, and the staff were very kind, which left a great impression. The canned beer and highballs available for purchase at the front desk were also reasonably priced. That said, a few things stood out: - I assume the Onsen is naturally low-temperature, but the open-air bath felt lukewarm. Since it was midsummer, I apologize if that temperature was intentional. - The Room with a private open-air bath was spacious and wonderful, but there was no wash bucket or chair for the bath, no sugar or milk/creamer for coffee, and no glass beer tumbler. It was a bit inconvenient. - The Wi-Fi only worked near the Room entrance. What impressed me most this time was the live performance by volunteers after dinner. From a large song list, they played our requested songs on saxophone, piano, and percussion—it was truly excellent and very moving.
