All villas feature a private natural Onsen with free-flowing hot spring water.

A wonderful luxury villa quietly nestled in a picture-perfect setting with views of Mt. Komagatake. The king-size bed, plush high-quality towels, and thoughtfully selected amenities had the feel of a top-class hotel, while the refined full kitchen and large refrigerator were very convenient. With carefully planned lighting, appliances, furniture, a fireplace, and high ceilings—true villa touches—it was a beautifully curated place that showed great attention to detail. The in-room hot spring bath had silky water with a high pH—so smooth it almost felt slippery—and it was gentle on the skin and deeply relaxing. There was also a heater next to the towel rack; perhaps another thoughtful touch so towels dry quickly? I did wish there were also a separate spa facility in another building. Dinner BBQ was extremely satisfying, with plenty of carefully chosen meats and seafood ingredients. The jingisukan (grilled lamb) and finishing soup curry were delicious as well. In this season there weren’t many bugs even outdoors, so we could enjoy it while feeling close to nature. We enjoyed the pumpkin dessert back in the room with the provided drip coffee—absolutely satisfying all around. The large wall-mounted TV in the room was easy to watch, and when the connection acted up, staff came right away to fix it for us. Breakfast was also a full Western-style meal, and everything tasted great. The welcome drink service at the bar in the front building upon arrival had just started recently, but we enjoyed lovely cocktails—it was such a stylish moment that built excitement for our stay along with the view of Mt. Komagatake through the window. I think it’s an excellent idea. I’ve seen comments saying people visit specifically for Angel Grand Villa Hakodate—and I completely agree now. We found an accommodation we can truly recommend; you can really feel how much the staff want to keep improving things here. We’d love to come again. We had a wonderful birthday eve!

With every deep breath, return to your true self.

What’s fascinating about Nana’s philosophy is how deliberately it reduces “information density.” Even with just a one-night stay, I could clearly feel the Accommodation’s concept: 1) No excessive signage or posters inside 2) No filling the space with background music 3) Avoiding harsh lighting 4) Minimizing digital noise as much as possible Through the space, sound, light, and service, it conveyed the idea that “silence isn’t emptiness—it’s a state where only what’s necessary remains.” The staff were outstanding from the moment I pulled into the parking area until they saw me off the next morning. I believe this reflects an intentional design by the owners (a couple): creating a place to Clear people’s senses. 5) The main focus is not “people,” but “place” and “nature” → Prioritizing “what you feel” over “who made it.” 6) A commitment to completing the Accommodation as a “work” → Only three rooms; no adding more Facility features. No indiscriminate advertising. → A mindset of “only those who understand need to come,” aligned with traditional house restoration values. You could say this is for travelers whose purpose is to feel restored and re-centered: 7) Your body resets in the Onsen 8) Your senses reset through fire and food 9) Your mind resets through satoyama landscapes and an old folk house → Redefining travel from consumption to renewal. As tools for restoration, it offers free-flowing natural hot spring water, silence, an aesthetic space, and an Accommodation with high experiential value. → Not just “staying overnight,” but a trip where something changes. Nana’s philosophy feels almost perfectly aligned—its ideas and their realization overlap naturally. Among all the places I’ve stayed in Japan over the past few years, this was the best. In other words, choosing Nana—even for just one night—as a journey to re-center my senses and experience it as a complete work turned out exactly right. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

A Private Villa with an Onsen Nestled in a Vast Forest

After my wife was discharged from the hospital, she successfully passed two follow-up checkups, and we finally planned our first trip in a year. While searching for an exceptional stay as a surprise gift, we found this Accommodation. In a completely private setting, we were able to enjoy a blissful escape from everyday life. The Room filled with bright light through floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the vast grassland stretching out before us, the free-flowing Onsen and pool fed directly from the source, and the soothing sounds of nature—just what we could see and hear was enough to heal us. And yet, the chef’s warm personality reflected in every dish, along with stories full of love for Hokkaido, made it truly unforgettable. Using local ingredients along with freshly picked herbs and vegetables harvested right on the property, the unpretentious course allowed us to fully savor Hokkaido. From appetizers created right in front of us to a beautifully cooked main grilled over firewood rather than charcoal, every once-in-a-lifetime dish for that day alone moved us again and again—right through dessert. The wines thoughtfully recommended at just the right moments were also excellent. Small gestures—like turning our leftover corn rice into onigiri for a late-night snack—were deeply touching. The smooth, slightly thick Moor Onsen water left our skin silky soft, and I found myself soaking again and again after dinner, in the middle of the night, and at dawn (laughs). The steam rising into the night air under a sky full of stars was so calming I wished time would stop. Breakfast in the crisp morning air was also an array of homemade delights—we enjoyed every last bit of what this Accommodation has to offer. Spending time in an entirely private space where you can have endless views and the chef’s cuisine all to yourself—without anyone disturbing you—is truly one of a kind. Thanks to you all, it became the best possible surprise trip to celebrate my wife’s discharge. To the chef, manager/director (shihainin), and everyone on staff who helped make our stay so special—thank you very much.
