Jukaitei is a small Accommodation limited to 8 groups per day, perched on a hill in the Tango fishing town of Taiza. Watch a great sunset slowly and quietly sink into the long horizon that stretches endlessly. “Sawando” means “a place where rivers meet.” In December 1998, Onsen water was brought to this area—long used as a gateway to Kamikochi—and Sawando Onsen was born. Our inn opened five years later, in July 2003. Surrounded by mountains and little else, Keiryuso Shiorie warmly welcomes you. Opened in 2019, this Property offers ocean-view Japanese-Western style rooms and features semi-open-air baths with natural onsen water directly sourced from its own spring. Skilled in traditional ink-line marking, Heikichi was known locally as “Sumiya no Hei-san” (“Hei from the ink shop”). From this nickname came the house name Tanpei, later renamed “Tanpei,” and it has since been operated as the oldest Accommodation in Tango Town to this day. The spirit of hospitality of “Sumiya no Hei-san” has been passed down through six generations and continues today.
