Established in 1910, this historic Ryokan is the birthplace of Hitoyoshi Onsen. Enjoy the luxury of three private hot spring sources with different water qualities, all flowing freely. The Ryokan offers rooms with semi-open-air Onsen baths, private baths, and a newly built sauna, allowing you to fully indulge in a relaxing hot spring experience. The attached Italian dining also receives high praise for its pizzas and pastas crafted by young chefs. From the guest rooms, you can enjoy views of the Kuma River, and within the facility, relax on the terrace or by the fireplace, leaving behind the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Our 8,000-tsubo garden, begun by my great-grandfather in the early Showa era, is surrounded by trees over 100 years old and is a celebrated spot in Otaru, with 200 cherry trees in full bloom in early May. From late May through June, wisteria trellises and azaleas follow, and in summer you can enjoy viburnum snowballs, hydrangeas, and carefully tended roses. I especially love the autumn foliage in late October, and the deep winter snow that transforms everything into a pure white landscape is equally refreshing for the soul.
A Ryokan with its own natural Onsen source. The unique milky-white Onsen of Zao is strongly acidic with numerous benefits, and the sulfur aroma delights Onsen enthusiasts.
