I had a wonderfully relaxing stay at a comfortable pace. It was quiet and spotless throughout, and the Onsen was incredibly open and wonderful. Every meal was deeply delicious. The staff were also very pleasant and welcoming. I feel as if both my body and mind have been refreshed. I can hardly believe how reasonably priced it is. Thank you very much. I will definitely return.

This is the most satisfying Ryokan I have ever stayed at. The hospitality was beyond anything I could have imagined. The owner, the proprietress, and all the staff were wonderful people, and their warmth truly touched my heart. The meals, centered on seafood, featured outstanding ingredients and careful preparation—I was completely satisfied. What deserves special mention is the owner’s 100% buckwheat handmade soba: its aroma and smoothness were exceptional. I live in a prefecture known as a soba mecca, but I have never had soba better than this. Even the breakfast vegetables were all pesticide-free and homegrown, made with real care. The Onsen water was a reddish cloudy spring that felt gentle on the skin and relieved my fatigue. The building has a dignified presence with a sense of history. In every way it was outstanding—an Accommodation that makes you want to return again soon.

This was my first time visiting Sarugakyo Onsen, and to be honest, it didn’t feel like there was much sightseeing, but this Accommodation was so wonderful that I’d come back just to stay here again. The staff were all very hospitable, and the food was excellent. The pizza in particular was truly delicious—I ended up eating far too much. I’d love to visit again! Thank you very much.

We stayed for one night. The Onsen was wonderful and very relaxing. The meals were delicious, and we really enjoyed chatting with the staff member who took care of us, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Since we were traveling to Nagasaki the next day, we truly appreciated your thoughtful arrangement to serve breakfast earlier. Thanks to you, it became a very fun girls’ trip. After returning home, we heard about the major earthquake in Kumamoto and are very concerned. We are also survivors of the Kobe earthquake 30 years ago, and we still remember how difficult it is without lifelines and how frightening aftershocks can be. We are sending our support from Kobe and hope Kurokawaso and Kumamoto Prefecture will recover as soon as possible. We would love to stay again. Thank you very much.

I sincerely appreciate the Hotel’s warm hospitality. From the moment I was greeted, I felt a heartfelt welcome. The attentive care at check-in, the attention to detail in every meal, and even the complimentary green tea at check-out all reflected the Hotel’s genuine commitment to guest service. Wonderful! If I have the chance to visit Hakone again, I would definitely like to stay at this Hotel again.

We stayed to celebrate a birthday anniversary. The hot spring water was excellent, and the amenities were well stocked. In the bathroom refrigerator, there were small sherbet treats (for heatstroke prevention?), along with water and tea. At dinner, there was a surprise that made us very happy, and we were able to spend this special time in a meaningful way. Thank you very much.

Everything was excellent. Thank you for accommodating my allergies at both breakfast and dinner. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and I truly enjoyed the food. The Room was clean, and being able to smoke on the terrace made my stay very comfortable. The staff were all very kind and attentive, and the private open-air bath with its spectacular view as well as the in-Room open-air bath were incredibly relaxing—making it a wonderful holiday.

This time, my spouse and I traveled around Kumamoto by rental car with our two sons and stayed in Kurokawa Onsen. The atmosphere of the entire Onsen town was very calm—quiet, charming, and a wonderful place to relax at a leisurely pace. The quality of the Onsen water was excellent, and we felt deeply relaxed after bathing. The Ryokan staff were kind and attentive, and the Room was clean and comfortable. It was a very satisfying stay for our whole family and one of the most memorable highlights of our trip to Kumamoto. We highly recommend this Onsen destination for family trips as well.

Although I was worried about the earthquake’s impact, I decided to visit from Kumamoto Airport. Perhaps because a week had passed since the quake, I hardly noticed any effects and was able to stay with peace of mind. Above all, I was amazed by how delicious the meals were. Dinner featured duck hot pot, miso soup, and rice cooked in a traditional pot; breakfast included nori seaweed, natto, and French toast. Every dish felt heartfelt, and I ended up eating far more than I expected. The Onsen was just as described in advance and helped relieve my fatigue. It was a truly satisfying stay. Lastly, I asked about the period “.” after Seifuso’s name that had caught my attention. Despite all the hardships you have faced—including the earthquake—I was deeply moved to hear that it represents putting a “.” (period) on these hardships and creating a new Seifuso going forward. Thank you very much. If I have the chance, I would love to stay again.

The free-flowing Onsen was wonderful. The indoor bath was a bit on the hotter side, while the open-air bath was pleasantly lukewarm, and we fully enjoyed the unique appeal of each. The Room was spacious, and we were able to relax comfortably. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. In particular, since I’m not fond of beef, I mentioned it in advance and they kindly accommodated my request. Thank you very much. Not only the meals but also everything else—including the Shuttle Service to the station—was handled with great kindness by all staff members. It was truly refreshing, and we had a wonderful time. We would definitely like to stay again.

The view from the Room was wonderful—we were moved to be able to take in the sea, mountains, and sunrise all at once, accompanied by birdsong. Although it’s a secluded Accommodation deep in the mountains, it’s relatively easy to access by car and not difficult to reach. The Accommodation features classic, traditional Japanese architecture, yet it feels clean and has been thoughtfully renovated for comfort and ease of use. It was clear how much care goes into its upkeep, which I truly admire. The surrounding nature is lush, and the greenery and gentle sound of the river are very soothing. That said, the bedding mattress felt a bit firm for me personally, which was a small minus point (I didn’t wake up sore the next morning, so this is purely my personal impression). The hot spring source is around 37°C and lukewarm, but there are also heated baths, so it wasn’t an issue. If I had one wish: since I’m not fond of lukewarm water, I would have liked the heated tub to be larger. Meals were mainly simple countryside dishes, but everything was very delicious. Younger guests might find it a little light; in that case, I recommend ordering additional dishes. For us it was just the right amount—and we could get refills of rice—so we were very satisfied. Many of the staff were young, but they were always smiling and pleasant, with excellent attentiveness and consideration. This is an outstanding Accommodation that makes Japanese guests feel at ease—I hope it never changes. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We had seen a Review saying the pool temperature was low, and since it was a chilly day we were worried, but it was comfortably warm. The first-floor flooring is also not slippery, so I think it’s dog-friendly. If possible, it would have been even better if the second-floor flooring were made of similarly non-slip materials. The quality of the free-flowing Onsen water was great as well, and it was a wonderful Accommodation that makes not only dogs but also people want to come back.

No matter how many times we visit, Osawa Onsen never disappoints. We were very satisfied again this time, including the attentive service from the staff. On the drive home, we were already planning when to come back next. Thank you very much.

It was a wonderful Ryokan. I loved the Onsen water quality, and I was able to relax completely in the open-air bath on the rooftop. The meals were also very delicious. You could really feel the chef’s care in each carefully prepared dish; I hope the rice served will be of a standard that matches it. I couldn’t say it was at its best, so I think it could be improved further by adjusting how it’s kept warm, for example. It was an excellent Accommodation.

This was my first stay here. Above all, the Onsen were outstanding. I was able to enjoy a variety of baths— a clear, colorless iron-rich spring in the Room, a thick mixed sulfur and carbonated spring, and a gentle sulfur spring— and I was completely satisfied. The traditional Japanese meals made with mountain ingredients were also very delicious and easy on the stomach. I’m also grateful for the warm hospitality and smiles from all the staff. This was our fourth stay. This time we brought our son as well. My spouse and I stayed as usual in the Hotel building on the 3rd floor, ocean side with a balcony, and our son stayed on the same floor on the mountain side. He also seemed to really like the rooftop tent sauna. I think how wonderful this Hotel is comes across from us returning for a fourth time... We stayed in late June, and although this Review is a month later, was everything okay after the Kumamoto earthquake? It’s close by, so we’re worried.

Since guests remove their shoes at the entrance, the floors throughout the property are very clean. You can choose your preferred brands of shampoo, conditioner, face wash, etc., select from pillows of various heights and firmness levels, and there is a wide range of samue loungewear sizes. You can also take your favorite drinks—from alcohol to soft drinks—back to your Room. The Room layout is very practical, and no matter where I wiped with an alcohol wipe, there was absolutely no dirt. It was very comfortable. The bath had shower heads such as ReFa and Mirable. If there were more dinner menu options, it would be perfect.

It has been a while since the head chef moved, but we visited Daichu this time because we thought we could enjoy the chef’s cuisine there. We also wanted to try sea urchin in this season. Until last year, we went to the annex for it, but we assumed it would be the same and chose Daichu instead. (We had visited several times before for the private day-use baths.) We were able to spend a truly enjoyable time, meeting familiar staff as well as new faces. It really felt like coming back again. There is no bath in the Room, but you can use any of the three private baths whenever you like, and we enjoyed delicious sea urchin, great drinks, and obanzai as well—completely satisfied. We were also finally able to see the head chef again. He looked well, which put us at ease as we headed home. We would love to visit again in a different season.

As a truly secluded Onsen, the drive to get there was challenging, but it was a wonderful Accommodation well worth the effort. Surrounded by abundant nature, even the wait for the cable car was enjoyable as we took in the gorge views and watched small birds. We also used the private bath first thing in the morning and were able to fully enjoy the Onsen while embraced by quiet nature—it was truly an exceptional moment. All of your staff are wonderfully international, and rather than striving for perfection, each person’s sincere, heartfelt work came through, which made us feel very warm inside. At dinner, you kindly changed our table to a window seat, and we enjoyed delicious dishes along with the beautiful scenery. My European husband was also very satisfied. Next time, we would love to return during the autumn foliage or snowy season. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.
