The Akakura Kanko Resort Hotel was founded in 1937 (Showa 12). Built by the Okura Zaibatsu following the Kamikochi Imperial Hotel and Kawana Hotel, it is a pioneer among Japan's Resort Hotels. The Hotel is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters, where a sea of clouds can sometimes be seen below. In addition to the timeless charm since its founding, all rooms and the Japanese restaurant were renovated in 2008. Furthermore, on December 12, 2009, a large public bath with open-air baths, a spa salon, and guest rooms with open-air Onsen were newly opened. Maintaining its historical and elegant atmosphere and the spirit of hospitality cultivated through tradition, the Hotel offers an even more comfortable and relaxing environment.

Kiyasuya is a secluded Property located in the mountainous area of Sujiyu Onsen, at an altitude of 1,000 meters in Kokonoe Town, Oita Prefecture. Built in the autumn of 2006 with the spirit of its 30-year history, the Property's Rooms feature warm earthen walls and black-painted wooden fences, evoking the charm of traditional Japanese farmhouses and the serene atmosphere of a rural village. Each Room is a detached unit with its own open-air bath. The hot spring water, a clear sodium-chloride Onsen with a silky texture, is abundant and free-flowing, used not only for the baths but also for heating the Rooms. All 53 guest rooms are named after notable novelists and poets, offering a serene space for relaxation. A Resort Hotel named Lavista (meaning "view") has opened on a hill slightly away from the central area of Kusatsu Onsen.
