The former Unno-juku on the Old Hokkokukaido is lined with buildings from the Meiji era, offering a scenic view that allows you to feel the ever-flowing "time" that transcends history. At Unno-juku, where sericulture was nurtured, we perceive silk threads as part of our "everyday life," and Joshuya serves as a place to untangle those threads. Joshuya welcomes you with three unique spaces: a Löyly sauna, a bedroom overlooking the street, OMOYA. A bedroom utilizing a sericulture building, OKAIKO. A serene library in a dignified earthen storehouse, DOZO. Meals are provided in collaboration with local establishments, offering Japanese and French cuisine made with local ingredients. Narai-juku, with a 400-year history on the Nakasendo, remains as Japan's longest post town, preserving much of its original charm. Located at the midpoint of the 69 stations of the Nakasendo, this post town flourished with many travelers and was affectionately known as "Narai Senken." As we inherit four historical buildings as the Property BYAKU Narai, we have chosen not to give each building a new name. Instead, we decided to return to the "yago" (traditional house names) passed down from the Edo period, such as calling the sake brewery "Suginomori Shuzo," established in 1793 and a symbol of the town, "Toshiyoshiya." The 16 Rooms are unique and diverse, utilizing the structures of the four historical buildings, each with different layouts and purposes. Immerse yourself in spaces that embrace the historical architecture, and experience the history and countless stories these buildings have witnessed over time. We offer a unique stay experience in these traditional houses, distinct from typical Hotel Rooms, where you can feel the essence of a place that has supported various lives and activities for generations.

It's like opening a giant time capsule. That was the impression when we first entered to begin the restoration of this accommodation. This building once served as a "Honjin," a resting place for the Matsumoto feudal lord traveling to Edo during the Sankin-kotai system. Over 100 years, it has accumulated remnants from various eras, packed tightly within its walls. As we carefully uncovered these layers with the help of local residents, the essence and potential of this accommodation began to reveal themselves.The cultural figures who passed through here, and those who warmly welcomed them with heartfelt hospitality. An old hearth unexpectedly discovered when removing floorboards—when its fire is lit again after all these years, this Honjin will come alive once more. Perhaps this space has been waiting for someone all along. Tsuchiya-tei: A nostalgic yet modern machiya accommodation where you can experience “everyday Kurashiki,” the way local townspeople lived and carried on life in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. Tsuchiya-tei once supported local healthcare as the Tsuchiya Internal Medicine Clinic during the Meiji period. The former clinic space now serves as reception for Tsuchiya-tei and as the shop for Miyake Shoten Café & Workshop. The property stretches 45 meters from south to north, from the main house to the storehouse, and accommodates up to three groups per day—each with its own private entrance. There are three Rooms, each connected to Kurashiki’s townscape: “Honmachi Street Accommodation” (2–4 guests) facing Honmachi-dori, a former old highway; “Alley Accommodation” (2–4 guests) located at the end of one of Kurashiki’s most iconic alleys; and “Storehouse Accommodation” (2 guests) overlooking the riverside of the Kurashiki River that runs through the Bikan Historical Quarter. For special occasions such as three-generation anniversaries or reunions with old friends, you can reserve either an entire main house or all buildings exclusively for up to 10 guests.
