We stayed with an infant and a young child, and had a very comfortable stay. The Room was spacious and comfortable, and every staff member was extremely kind and hospitable, so we felt at ease throughout our stay. The meals were well prepared and thoughtfully presented. Since we have children, we are careful about ingredients and additives, but we were able to enjoy everything with peace of mind right through to the final dessert. It was also convenient that the bus stop for the Komagatake Ropeway Station is right in front of the Accommodation. For families with small children, this Accommodation has it all—the spacious Room, the warm support from the staff, reassuring meals, and a convenient location—making it very easy to stay here. We would definitely like to return.

I finally got to experience this Accommodation I’d been curious about for a while, thanks to its appealing Instagram posts and high rankings online! In conclusion, it’s a wonderful Onsen Accommodation with a high level of satisfaction that truly lives up to the hype. The food is especially outstanding. At dinner—famous for its boat platter—you can enjoy Kishu-style whale dishes, along with a lineup of carefully prepared courses. As for the Onsen, it was a bit disappointing that every bath felt too hot to fully relax in, but you can still enjoy thoughtfully designed baths, including an open-air bath where you can feel the sea up close. I’m glad I found an Accommodation I’d love to return to in another season.

From the welcome on arrival to checkout, the staff are consistently pleasant, and the proprietress’s attentive hospitality is impressive every time. The Ryokan is impeccably clean, and everything is well cared for throughout. The cuisine shows a clear commitment to quality ingredients—beautifully presented and delicious. It’s not just a place that serves many dishes; it delivers the satisfaction of dining at a proper kappo restaurant. After staying at other Accommodations in the same price range, you truly realize how outstanding this Ryokan is. Once you stay here, you’ll want to come back. It’s a bit far, but more than worth it—an exceptional Ryokan.

Thanks to you, we had a wonderful trip. Spending a full day relaxing in complete privacy, without meeting anyone and without worrying about time, was truly a luxury. The front desk staff welcomed us with exceptional kindness. The Room was spacious and spotless, with a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Toya. In the private open-air bath, we could soak in the Onsen while fully enjoying the spectacular scenery of Lake Toya. The open-air bath in the large public bath on the top floor was at the perfect temperature—never too hot—so we could relax without having to step out repeatedly. Looking down over Lake Toya from the infinity bath, we felt completely refreshed in both body and mind; it was truly outstanding. The dining was also excellent. The dinner buffet featured an abundant selection of fresh sashimi and nigiri sushi, including scallops, sea urchin, and shrimp. There were also hot dishes such as grilled crab legs and steak—all you can eat. Breakfast offered a wide variety of seafood as well, including raw surf clams and sweet shrimp, and our whole family was thoroughly satisfied with the meals at “Kohan no Sumika.” I have stayed at more than 70 Japanese Onsen Ryokan so far, but “Kohan no Sumika” is one of the few Hotels that I can say I absolutely want to return to. Thanks to the warm hospitality of all the staff, our family enjoyed an unforgettable and perfect stay. Thank you very much. 2. Business Courtesy Version (more formal and polite tone) This is a flawless Onsen Resort Hotel. I stayed at “Kohan no Sumika” on August 30. The front desk service was extremely courteous, and the Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and well maintained. From the guest Room we could enjoy sweeping views of Lake Toya, and in the private open-air bath we were able to savor both the Onsen experience and the beautiful scenery of Lake Toya to our heart’s content. The top-floor open-air bath had a wonderfully comfortable temperature that allowed for a long soak without overheating. Relaxing while looking down over Lake Toya from the infinity Onsen made for an exceptionally luxurious moment of calm. Dinner was highly satisfying: along with plentiful fresh sashimi and nigiri sushi—such as scallops, sea urchin, and shrimp—there were also all-you-can-eat options like grilled crab and steak. Breakfast likewise included seafood such as raw surf clams and sweet shrimp, leaving our entire family very pleased with its quality. Although I have stayed at more than 70 Japanese Onsen Hotels to date, “Kohan no Sumika” is one of those rare outstanding Accommodations that I would very much like to visit again. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for everyone’s warm hospitality; thanks to you all, our family enjoyed a truly perfect time together.

I stayed one night in the Main Building 8-tatami + 6-tatami Room. The charming covered corridor and the surrounding gardens were wonderful. I imagine it offers a different atmosphere with each season. Various hanging lanterns are lit along the corridor, making it even more atmospheric in the morning and evening. The lighting in the lobby, library, and Room was also enjoyable in its own way. Each of the three large public baths had a distinct character—the marble bath with stained glass, and the open-air bath with greenery all around. One downside is that, due to the Onsen minerals, the floors can be slippery. As this is an Onsen Ryokan, it was relaxing to spend time inside wearing yukata. All staff were kind and had lovely smiles. It was also fun to see that outfits differed depending on who assisted us—and sometimes even between morning and evening for the same person. Because of the building layout—Rooms connected like separate annexes via covered corridors—some areas inevitably feel almost outdoors. If you dislike insects or mosquitoes, you may want to take precautions. The meals were not overly elaborate, but seafood and other dishes were prepared deliciously, and I was satisfied with the carefully selected tableware as well. For the price, this Accommodation offers a truly luxurious escape from everyday life—I highly recommend it.

Three years ago, my wife and I stayed here and made wonderful memories, so this time we stayed with six people: my son-in-law’s parents (who live in Shanghai), my daughter and her husband, and my wife and me. Everyone was very happy with it.

My first trip to Onomichi. I chose Hansei, highly rated for its outstanding cuisine. The kaiseki meals made with seasonal Setouchi ingredients were exceptional—each dish carefully prepared, and while true to classic kaiseki, they also incorporated new ingredients in a way that was both impressive and delicious. Even the pickles were finely scored with hidden knife work, showing thoughtful consideration for the guest. I was amazed by the high level of quality. The special sea bream chazuke (with sesame sauce) at breakfast was also superb.

As wonderful as the food was, what moved me most was the attentiveness and care shown by all the staff. From check-in to check-out, their hospitality was excellent. One member of staff in charge of dining even quietly placed an extra dish beside a photo of a family member who could not join us at breakfast and dinner—an incredibly touching gesture.

The “Travel Memory Book” was something that staff had written for the first time, but it became a truly lovely keepsake—the carefully drawn illustration and message conveyed their warmth so clearly.

With such wonderful staff and delicious food, Hansei is a place I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

We stayed here for the first time to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The Room was clean, the view was great, and it was very comfortable. Every staff member greeted us with a smile, and we were impressed throughout. Above all, the food was outstanding. We were amazed by the live ice cream presentation, the live rolled-omelet presentation, and two surprise dishes that weren’t even on the menu. Everything was truly delicious, beautifully presented, and the decorative vegetable carvings were adorable. As someone who doesn’t eat much, I couldn’t finish it because it was so filling—so even big eaters will be satisfied with the portion size. There were also many kinds of drinks available with unlimited refills, and we really felt their warm hospitality. We would love to come again! Thank you for such wonderful memories!

I have been living overseas for 18 years and return to Japan temporarily about twice a year. Whenever I come back, I always visit an Onsen with my wife... We’ve been to many different Onsens, but... we eventually found Oyado Tamaki, and this is about our sixth stay... Now we choose Oyado Tamaki every time. We are extremely satisfied with the Onsen, the Facility, the meals, and the hospitality of the staff.

We stayed in a Room with a private Onsen. We also used the large public bath, and since there are only a few Rooms, we were able to enjoy it privately. I couldn’t tell the difference between the two hot spring sources, but the water was soft and the temperature was just right. In any case, the garden is wonderful. Although Tendo Onsen is located in town, it’s in a calm setting where you can hear cicadas. And the food is outstanding—no typical “just to increase the number of dishes” meals; instead, you can enjoy local and seasonal ingredients prepared with care and served with refined flavors. They also have an excellent selection of Dewazakura sake. I stay at various Accommodations for work, and among those that fit our budget and lifestyle, this is one of the very best. We’d love to stay again.

I had long wanted to stay at Towada Hotel, and on this visit what impressed me most was the building itself—and how thoughtfully the Hotel shares its history so guests can truly appreciate it. The carefully preserved entrance is captivating from the moment you look up, with beautiful timber framing and intricate details. There are highlights everywhere, inside and out, making it a joy simply to walk around. Former features such as the old vault room have also been kept, and I found it fascinating to experience the unique character that only a building shaped by many years can offer. The Room I stayed in was “Kakitsubata.” I especially appreciated that each Room’s design and details are introduced within the Hotel. For “Kakitsubata,” I could learn in depth about the materials used for elements such as the ceiling, tokobashira (alcove post), and tokogamachi (alcove frame), as well as how they have been repaired over time. Rather than simply admiring a historic building from afar, being able to spend the night knowing the story of my own Room felt like a truly luxurious experience. In my Room, my favorite feature was the small round window. Beyond it, Lake Towada and the surrounding mountains were perfectly framed—like looking at a painting. It isn’t flashy, but having such a beautiful corner within the Room made me happy, and I found myself gazing at it again and again during my stay. The meals also featured Akita specialties such as Akita Nishiki beef, Hinai jidori chicken, junsai (water shield), and iburigakko (smoked pickles), allowing me to enjoy flavors unique to this destination. The dishes were not extravagant, but I loved being able to taste local ingredients—and everything was delicious. The bath is not an Onsen, but the panoramic view over Lake Towada is wonderful. The tub is spacious and very clean, making it comfortable to use. The sauna was also extremely pleasant. Overall, it was an exceptionally satisfying stay. Unlike new luxury hotels, this Accommodation lets you enjoy architecture with true heritage—its design details, scenery, and sense of time accumulated over generations. It wasn’t just staying one night; staying in this building itself became a lasting travel memory. If I have another chance to visit Lake Towada, this is definitely a Hotel I would love to stay at again.

I stayed at this Hotel to participate in the Hida Takayama Ultramarathon. It is conveniently located near the station, the Room was clean, and there is a large public bath, so I had a comfortable stay. The parking lot is also spacious and very convenient, and I would like to stay here again.

It was my first time at Shirahone Onsen, and it exceeded everything I had heard. A milky-white, wonderfully silky bath with a proper sulfur scent—my skin felt so smooth afterward. As for the Ryokan, the hospitality was astonishing by today’s standards. They greeted us right at our car upon arrival and even carried our luggage. Every staff member was consistently polite, and if they saw us heading to the baths, they would immediately call the elevator for us. Most surprising of all was the food—everything was delicious. It was my first time trying snow trout sashimi, and I couldn’t believe how good it was. The dishes weren’t just tasty; they were also beautifully presented. The Ryokan’s Shifuku Mochi was also amazing—I bought three boxes as souvenirs. My husband usually doesn’t eat Japanese sweets, but he unusually ate four pieces. When we contacted them out of concern that heavy rain might close the roads, they kindly explained everything in detail as well. Overall, I felt the staff’s level of hospitality was exceptional—it’s easy to see why so many guests return. I’d love to come again next year. Thank you very much!

Not only were the meals and the wonderful Onsen outstanding, but I was also deeply comforted by the staff’s hospitality. Their warm smiles and sincere service reminded me that people can be healed by people. I would love to visit again in winter. Thank you for your hospitality the other day. When I told you I can’t eat raw fish, thank you for preparing alternative dishes. The food looked great and tasted wonderful, and we also enjoyed the complimentary extra dish. The bath warmed me up so well that I stayed warm for a long time afterward. The detox water after the bath was also delicious. It was great to be offered a draft beer as a welcome drink at check-in—it was the perfect refreshing drink after a long drive. I would love to stay with you again.

I had stayed at Kinkonko several times before, and after it became Regina Resort, we chose to stay again—especially as it coincided with our younger child’s birthday. It was an even better stay than I imagined; the time spent with our dog felt truly special. Just as rumored, the consistently dog-first hospitality warmed our hearts throughout the trip. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with smiles and greeted us by name, and our dog immediately relaxed. The Room and shared spaces were exceptionally well stocked with amenities for dogs, and their thoughtful attention to detail really stood out. A surprise that made us especially happy During our stay, I casually mentioned in conversation that our dog’s birthday was coming up—and to my surprise, they quickly prepared a birthday cake as a special treat. I was amazed by such a wonderful gesture, and having the staff celebrate together with us filled my heart. Seeing our dog happily enjoying the cake became an unforgettable memory. Surrounded by Yufuin’s beautiful nature, this is truly a dream-like Accommodation where both dogs and owners can relax without any hesitation. It was an outstanding Accommodation that I would wholeheartedly recommend for important anniversaries or creating special memories with your dog. We definitely want to come back again! We have stayed at many pet-friendly Accommodations before, but Regina Resort Yufuin was the most satisfying in every way. Next time, we hope to stay in “Kakoi,” the new annex.

In a small Japanese-style room, I enjoyed the sweetness of local vegetables while imagining that merchants from long ago might have stayed here alone as well. Perhaps because of the terrain there is no railway, which may help create the town’s calm atmosphere. On the way back, when I was kindly given a ride on the bus toward Chichibu, I was deeply impressed by driving that was more considerate than anything I have ever experienced. Even on mountain roads, the driver’s smooth control never caused sudden tilts in any direction, and he consistently kept safely to the left edge of the road to allow oncoming traffic to pass. I wasn’t able to thank the driver when getting off, so please allow me to express my gratitude here.

I had always remembered that my late mother stayed here about 35 years ago and said it was a wonderful Hotel, so I decided to stay this time. We originally made a Reservation for two Rooms for six people across three generations, but one person couldn’t come due to work, and then two days before our stay my father and brother (in a separate household) came down with fevers from colds. In the end, our group was reduced by half, but despite the repeated changes, you handled everything very kindly and thoughtfully. Thank you. We arrived at 11:30 after checkout time and planned to park our car first and go sightseeing in Matsushima by the Hotel shuttle bus. However, your staff told us we could complete check-in procedures in advance, and when we returned they arranged it so we could simply pick up the key at a separate counter and go straight to our Room. This helped us avoid crowds and was truly appreciated. Because I have difficulty walking, I requested an ocean-side Japanese-Western style Room. The view was excellent, the Room was very comfortable, and the air conditioning was just right. We could see the sunrise directly in front of us. For dinner we chose the seafood buffet; there were many kinds of sashimi and grilled items, each dish was high quality—it was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed it. At breakfast as well, they cooked items like cheese omelets individually on the spot for each guest. The food exceeded our expectations! As for the baths, there were no issues at all. At sunrise time, watching the sun rise over Matsushima Bay right in front of the open-air bath moved me deeply. For someone like me with limited mobility, getting around was easy—the layout made sense and walking distances were reasonable—so it wasn’t physically taxing. It helped me truly understand why my mother, who had limited use of her hands and feet due to a similar condition, said this Hotel was so good. With check-in at 14:00 and checkout at 11:00, being able to relax without rushing is another great point. The staff service; the view from the Room; amenities; meals; baths—everything made this an excellent Hotel. When I come to Matsushima again, I sincerely want to stay at Taikanso again! Since expectations are high now that I know how good it is firsthand next time I'd like a Multiple Night Stay so I can enjoy other meals as well. Thank you very much for taking care of us.
