We always stay here when visiting Shiga Kogen for ski trips. This is our third season. Such a great price for accommodation so close to one of Japan's top ski resorts! Includes breakfast and dinner, has an onsen, spacious rooms—completely satisfied. The onsen has been renovated and is clean, with excellent maintenance. The meals offer a surprising variety for being in the mountains. This time we had set meals, but the warm dishes and refillable rice left us full and happy. Both the front desk staff and dining area staff were kind, making our stay very pleasant. There may be some negative comments from others, but with this level of service at this price point, isn't it asking too much? Considering rising costs of goods, fuel prices, and labor expenses—it must be challenging to maintain such a warm facility in the freezing mountains. We truly appreciate being able to stay at such an affordable rate. This is an excellent accommodation!

The ocean stretches out right in front of you, and the sunsets were so beautiful they felt truly cleansing. All of the staff were kind, making this a very comfortable Accommodation. Above all, the meals were delicious, and we enjoyed plenty of fresh seafood—an unforgettable, happy time. We’d love to come back again soon to relax.

We stayed as a family of three. While the location is a bit inconvenient without a car due to its distance from the station, the beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere made up for it. From our room, we enjoyed stunning views of snow-capped mountains in the distance. The bath was pleasantly warm, allowing us to relax and relieve our fatigue. It was a wonderful trip where we could visit places like Moto-Zenkoji Temple, Iida's attractions, and Tenryu Gorge. Thank you very much for your hospitality. We missed visiting the Central Tectonic Line Museum in Oshika Village this time, but we look forward to staying here again when we plan to go there!

The baths are simply excellent. The Rooms and building are somewhat old overall, but the baths are truly wonderful. The meals aren’t flashy, but they taste good and come in satisfying portions, so we were pleased overall. We were able to set off fireworks in the parking area a short distance away, and the kids seemed to really enjoy it.

The Room was average, but the bath salt service was a nice touch. Breakfast left a great impression: we were served a “Hakata Tamatebako,” a set featuring several small dishes made with local ingredients. The restaurant staff were cheerful and courteous, making for a pleasant meal.

We got caught in traffic and barely made it in time for dinner, but they extended the time for us, and we were able to enjoy the buffet. Thank you so much to all the staff for your warm smiles! The room was also very clean and lovely! ...I now want a hammock at home too. Haha I definitely want to come back again to enjoy the property more leisurely next time.

I’ve stayed here before and was very satisfied with the Crab Feast Course, but this time I wanted even more crab, so I chose the Luxury Crab Course. As a result, I was extremely satisfied with both the taste and the portion size. Also, this inn is right in front of the lift area at Hachi-Kita Ski Resort, and being able to use the bath even after check-out is a huge help. Another great service is that guests aged 55 and over can rent equipment for free. There’s also an affiliated rental shop nearby, and the staff were very kind and helpful. Unfortunately it rained that day and conditions were terrible, but thanks to staying at Hisaya, it turned into a ski trip I was happy with.

Finding a Hotel when traveling with a dog can be quite difficult, but Shikisou was very dog-friendly and comfortable to stay at. We booked two Rooms, and it was very easy to go back and forth between them, which made our stay even better. We were surprised by how much food was served—more than we expected. Everything was delicious. As for the bath, which we were also looking forward to, it was taken over by day-use visitors, and we were met with some complaints. We went to bathe around 9:00 p.m., and I assume they were locals. Even though we wanted to relax in the Onsen after a long trip, it felt uncomfortable, so we ended up leaving early. That is the only reason for the lower rating.

I found a Plan that does not use wheat flour, vegetable oils, dairy products, or sugar, and stayed here looking forward to these meals. An Accommodation offering a “Four Toxins-Free Plan” is still rare across the whole country, so it felt like I had finally found one. There were many dishes, all of them truly delicious, and I left completely full. I was very satisfied. It may have been the best food I’ve had at any Ryokan I’ve stayed at so far. Niigata Prefecture is far from my home and not somewhere I often get the chance to visit, but that made the sightseeing feel fresh as well, and I had a wonderful time.

Thank you for your hospitality. We were completely satisfied with the staff's attentiveness, the scenery, and the meals. It was a trip with my elderly mother, and she was very pleased as well. We promised to stay here again when we travel to this area in the future. I don't know how many more years we can travel together, but I truly appreciate your help in making my mother happy. Stayed on a weekday before the Obon holiday in August with the most affordable plan for 4 people. Despite some initial concerns, it was excellent value for money and an incredibly satisfying stay. The room was about 12 tatami mats in size, with a spacious hallway entrance and a wide sitting area by the window overlooking trees, comfortably seating four people. The bathroom had two sinks, and while there was a toilet in the room, there were also toilets located throughout the hallways and other areas. The bath was spacious with slightly sulfur-scented Onsen water that left my skin feeling smooth. Meals were served at tables in a large tatami-floored dining area. There was a menu provided along with explanations from staff members. While not extravagant, the dishes were creative and deliciously satisfying. For those wanting more luxurious options like beef or crab dishes, upgrading to another plan might be better suited. Tea and water were self-serve but made using tea leaves rather than tea bags, which made it taste better; even the water itself tasted great! After check-in, our luggage was carried to our room by staff who were kind and attentive throughout our stay. The building itself is impressive yet simple in design—clean with quick elevator access—and we enjoyed relaxing without any crowds at the baths or elsewhere around the Ryokan grounds. The road leading to this Ryokan wasn’t narrow either! One thing to note: they provide yukata robes but only one Onsen towel besides bath towels; so bringing your own pajamas or face towels might be helpful (especially if you find sleeping in yukata uncomfortable like I do). Would love to visit again!

It was a time when there were no group guests, so the Room was spacious and quiet, and we were very satisfied. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious and excellent. The value for money was great, and it’s a Hotel we would definitely like to visit again.

I stayed on June 18th for a business trip. The front desk service was excellent. The Room was clean. Breakfast was very delicious. It was my first time trying Yamagata's Imoni, and the flavor was wonderfully rich. I would love to stay here again if I come back for work.

I had used the Onsen several times as a day trip, but this was my first time staying overnight. The toothbrush provided in the amenities was a bit hard, but that’s easy to solve by bringing my own next time. Other than that, I had a comfortable stay with no complaints. My Room had a view of Mt. Jonen, but since I arrived at night I couldn’t see it then. I enjoyed Mt. Jonen the next morning, but I left in a hurry and couldn’t take my time to fully appreciate the view, which was a bit disappointing. Next time, I plan to check in while it’s still light and enjoy everything properly. I’d like to stay again. Thank you very much.

We stayed at Santa Hills for the first time with my husband and our beloved dog. Although we live in a rural area of Tokyo, it took about 3 hours one way by car navigation, and we were amazed by the surrounding nature filled with rice fields. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy peaceful moments. We stayed in a cottage with a private dog run, which had just the right amount of space and was very satisfying! It was slightly chilly at night, but the stove kept us warm, and the provided comforters made sleeping cozy enough. The plan included a hot pot filled with plenty of vegetables, which was delicious. The staff at the front desk and around were friendly and greeted us warmly, which made us feel very welcome. The nighttime illuminations were stunningly beautiful, and there were many Christmas decorations inside the center as well. We got to experience our first illumination of this season and felt an early touch of Christmas spirit. Both my husband and I had such a relaxing time after so long that we would love to visit again with our dog in tow. Thank you very much!

Before staying here, I didn’t have very high expectations, but our stay with a toddler (1 year and 2 months old) was extremely satisfying. All necessary baby items were provided, and they even supplied diapers as a complimentary service. Protective padding was properly applied to table corners and other areas, and even items like remote controls were individually sealed in antibacterial film—thoughtful details that made us feel safe and comfortable. At first I wondered if the Room might be a bit small, but there was no wasted space; the futon area (raised platform), living area, and the open-air bath flowed seamlessly together. Because you can see into the Room while bathing, I could relax in the bath while keeping an eye on my sleeping child. The highlight of any trip is the food, and both dinner and breakfast were served in-room. Everything was delicious. Unlike many Ryokan breakfasts that are unnecessarily large and end up getting cold, this one was served warm with delicate flavors—we were truly satisfied. They also prepared child-friendly options such as softly cooked rice and a lightly seasoned clear soup. The meals were not only delicious but also reassuring for our child, so both parent and child could enjoy them comfortably. Our daughter doesn’t eat packaged toddler meals, but we could take items from the adult dishes—like grilled fish or simmered foods—briefly rinsed in hot water before serving her. We really appreciated being able to travel almost empty-handed because of that. Of course we would love to return. I suspect many guests will become repeat visitors too—so it might get harder to make a Reservation! Highly recommended.

We stayed here with our family during heavy rain. There were a few minor issues, but that’s part of staying at a mountain Accommodation—and the owner and his family’s hospitality more than made up for it. Dinner, featuring char (iwana) and wild mountain vegetables, was truly satisfying. Amazingly, we were the only guests that day and had the abundant free-flowing natural Onsen all to ourselves—it was wonderful.
