The owner, being a broker, personally selects and purchases the seafood at auctions, ensuring exceptional freshness and quality. The Property was renovated in July 2021, introducing new Japanese-Western special rooms equipped with bedrooms and private baths, offering an extraordinary stay. Meals are served privately at individual table seating, and the open kitchen showcases freshly caught seafood of the day, which the chef prepares right in front of you upon special order. Designed by architect John Morford—who also designed “Kurabu” and the main store of Masuichi Ichimura Sake Brewery—this Accommodation is his vision of where he would want to stay when visiting Obuse. Centered around three earthen storehouses relocated from a long-established sugar wholesaler in Nagano, it comprises seven wooden buildings, with interiors fully furnished in Western style.
