We arrived a little early, kindly left our car, and took a stroll around the area. Right away, we visited Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya Shrine next door. In the backstreets of this historic townscape, you can find Onsen springs here and there—perfect for wandering at leisure. Both inside and outside the property felt very clean, showing careful management throughout. The staff’s smiles, service, and conversation were all refined; we truly felt their hospitality and attentiveness, which made our stay very comfortable. From the Room we stayed in—named “Kirishima”—we enjoyed a view of the grove surrounding Suwa Taisha Shimosha Akimiya Shrine, full of charm and atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast featured local ingredients, and everything was delicious. We could also sense how dedicated the staff were, which made dining even more enjoyable. Bathing in the panoramic large public bath while looking out over the townscape glowing at dusk was exceptional. The water was a gentle Onsen that seemed to softly cling to the skin. Although it wasn’t in our original plans, we stopped by Harmo Museum about 7–8 minutes away by car after receiving a recommendation as we checked out. Driving along the well-maintained lakeside of Lake Suwa and enjoying wonderful paintings became a great memory for us. It was a truly relaxing Accommodation for adults—wonderful in every way. The blend of nature and luxury was wonderful. I loved taking my time in the sauna, and the wood-burning stove was truly soothing. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. I’ll definitely be back.

The “Small-portion Gourmet Kaiseki” was just the right amount for seniors, and over our two-night stay the dinner was excellent in terms of ingredients, preparation, and seasoning. The breakfast also offered a variety of small dishes, and we were very satisfied from the morning with both dried fish and sashimi. The Onsen, Facility, and Room were clean and well maintained, and the staff were extremely attentive throughout our two-night stay. True to its name, it provided a five-star experience and made our trip to Izu a wonderful one.

This is an Onsen Accommodation you’ll want to return to again and again, with truly outstanding dedication to cuisine. Every visit leaves me thinking, “I’m so glad I came back.” Above all, I look forward to the meals each time. They are meticulous not only about the ingredients, but also about the dashi and even the grilling. The dashi is made with bonito flakes carefully shaved in-house at this Ryokan and natural true kombu kelp. The aroma and depth of flavor you notice from the very first sip are on a different level from ordinary dishes—you can taste the care that goes into it. The grilled items are also exceptional. They grill over binchotan charcoal sourced directly from a brewery in Wakayama. The eel in particular is superb: crisp, fragrant skin with tender, fluffy flesh. It’s delicious in a way that clearly reflects the chef’s precise technique and timing. I was also delighted to enjoy premium ingredients that are hard to come by in everyday life—Ginjiro uni (sea urchin), Saikyo-style hamo (pike conger), kue (longtooth grouper), Deshiko eel, and Shine Muscat “Hareou” grapes. And it’s not just about the food. The proprietress and all of the staff are genuinely warm and pleasant; their kindness comes through naturally when you interact with them. Their heartfelt hospitality is what makes this Accommodation so comfortable. The Onsen, the cuisine, and the hospitality—everything here makes you want to come back.

After finally arriving through heavy rain on this trip, we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. The meals were served in a calm lounge, and we could really feel the care put into each dish. The Onsen was wonderful, but unfortunately, due to torrential rain severe enough to trigger warnings, the water temperature dropped on the morning of the second day. We were especially disappointed that we couldn’t use the bath in our Room. With expressways closed, sightseeing wasn’t possible at all, so we’d like to come back next time for a retry. The Accommodation is a pleasant, clean Hotel, and all of the staff were very kind.

I stayed with my parents and husband—four adults in total. There was a complimentary alcohol service available until 10:00 p.m. (there was even beer in the Room refrigerator!), and the all-inclusive drinks with meals also offered a great selection of alcohol. We could even enjoy sparkling wine at breakfast—wonderful for my father and me, as we both love drinks. Every summer, we stay one night at an Accommodation in Fukushima to coincide with my mother’s visit home, and my father really loved this place, saying, “Let’s stay here again next time—let’s make it our regular.” From the bath to the lobby to the Room, every space had beautiful interiors and a wonderful sense of design. The staff were also warm yet polished in their hospitality. It was our first trip where I treated my parents to a stay, so it became a truly memorable experience for us. Thank you very much.

This was my second stay, and once again I chose the Plan with dinner and breakfast. As before, the meals were simply outstanding. With a full-course meal these days, I sometimes feel full before reaching the main dish, but here I was able to enjoy everything through dessert. There are many dishes, yet it all feels wonderfully light. Not only is the food delicious, but it also leaves you feeling comfortable afterward, allowing you to make the most of your evening—an extremely satisfying course. Breakfast was just as great as ever, and I was happy to have the freshly baked croissants again. Thank you very much.

From welcome to farewell, the hospitality was outstanding, and every staff member assisted us sincerely at a very high level. The property is quiet, calm, and comfortable—hard to believe you’re in Ginza. A highly functional Room where attention to detail is evident throughout and everything feels thoughtfully designed. We also appreciated the semi-open-air style indoor bath spacious enough to lie back in, as well as the dimmable lighting system in the washroom. Above all, the cuisine was exceptional—fresh ingredients paired with unexpected combinations and seasonings that delighted us. The rooftop footbath and free-flow drinks were perfect for us. With not a single negative point during our stay, we can’t stop thinking about visiting other “Fufu” properties. Next time, we might choose “Jogashima.”

We stayed to celebrate a birthday anniversary. The hot spring water was excellent, and the amenities were well stocked. In the bathroom refrigerator, there were small sherbet treats (for heatstroke prevention?), along with water and tea. At dinner, there was a surprise that made us very happy, and we were able to spend this special time in a meaningful way. Thank you very much.

My first time at Myoban Onsen. I’m excited to be able to stay at Okamotoya, which is highly rated in guidebooks. I was very satisfied with the milky-blue water. The Room was just the right size for one person and had a great view, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The dessert pudding and the orange juice at breakfast were especially appreciated since I don’t drink alcohol. Since this is a Multiple Night Stay, it really helped that they provided extra yukata and towels. Just one thing: at dinner on the first day, the rice and soup were a bit lukewarm (it was fine on the second day). Also, perhaps due to the season, the seating was quite close to other guests during meals, which made it a little hard to eat comfortably. Still, I’m so satisfied that I’d definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

During my Kyushu trip in mid-June, I stayed for a Multiple Night Stay (2 nights) in the “Chikurintei—Panoramic Open-Air Bath (Japanese-Western Room)” nestled within Mifuneyama Rakuen’s vast grounds. I stayed in the “Yamazakura” Room, which offered views of Mt. Mifune from the corridor and garden, and even had a private gate with direct access to Mifuneyama Rakuen. The open-air bath is a standing-style bath set among trees. It creates a unique floating sensation, and because the water pressure is applied evenly over the whole body, I felt less fatigue afterward. Being able to enjoy the garden and sky while standing also adds to the wonderful sense of openness. The Onsen water is clear and colorless—an alkaline simple spring—with an exceptionally gentle feel on the skin, so I never tired of soaking. The indoor bath is heated groundwater, but I also enjoyed it: the hinoki tub was very comfortable, and it didn’t take long to fill. What stood out most was the outstanding quality of dinner. The kaiseki course featuring seasonal local ingredients such as Takezaki crab immediately draws you in with its dashi—clear yet deeply flavorful, beautifully balanced. Each dish reflected the season in both taste and presentation: refined and truly beautiful. Beyond ingredient quality alone, there was a confident simplicity backed by real skill. Even on a Multiple Night Stay, every meal was flawless at an exceptional level. Simply superb—thank you for such a feast. Another highlight was visiting teamLab’s art installations at the affiliated Mifuneyama Rakuen Hotel on the same grounds (guests of Chikurintei can enter free). From the moment you step into the lobby, you’re struck by countless lamps evoking forest flowers and sunlight filtering through trees. The most breathtaking work was “Megalis in Ruins Bathhouse,” where digital projections of seasonal flowers illuminate massive stones rising throughout an abandoned public-bath space. When we visited, different scenes cycled continuously—twelve distinct visuals representing all months—and we became fully immersed for about an hour until they completed one full round late at night before closing. Also worth mentioning: the cold-brew coffee served in the lounge area was delicious—I refilled it many times and enjoyed it back in my Room as well. To everyone at “Oyado Chikurintei,” thank you sincerely for creating such a wonderful stay. I will absolutely return when I visit Takeo Onsen again.

I had a Multiple Night Stay, and to be honest, it exceeded my expectations. Although I couldn't see Mount Fuji from the Room I stayed in, I enjoyed a blissful time on the beautiful garden terrace where the day seemed to pass by in an instant. The medicinal stone bath was incredibly relaxing; after just one soak, my body felt thoroughly warmed to the core. By the second time, I even started looking forward to the bath preparation process itself. The Room was spacious, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. During my stay, housekeeping cleaned while I was out for the day during my Multiple Night Stay. Returning to such a spotless Room felt like coming back to a brand-new space—it was truly impressive! The staff were kind and greeted me warmly every time we crossed paths, making my stay all the more pleasant. When visiting Lake Kawaguchi again, I will definitely return to Hana no Yado Yumefuji! The variety of bath salts has also increased, and the bath towels feel luxurious and are easy to use. Even in a single room, the Room is spacious enough for light stretching. Recently, prices have gone up and it’s been hard to stay as often, but I’d like to use it again during more affordable periods.

Over the past few years, this Accommodation has become a place our family wants to visit at least once a year, and both kids and adults are always completely satisfied. This summer vacation we weren’t planning a trip to the Izu area, so we thought a summer stay might not be possible—but when we learned about the summer vacation discount offer, we knew we had to go and made a last-minute Reservation. With prices rising everywhere, we truly appreciate this thoughtful gesture from the Facility. As always, every staff member—from arrival to departure—shows wonderful hospitality that makes for a genuinely relaxing stay. The Facility is also very clean. The summer vacation pop-up stalls were unexpectedly enjoyed more by the adults than the kids; it was fun seeing everyone feel like children again. It was disappointing that we couldn’t play tennis due to construction on the tennis courts, but there were so many enjoyable activities that we barely had enough time. We also love the surrounding satoyama countryside nature, so next time we’d like to stay in spring.

I’ve been coming here since I lived about 30 minutes away by train. Even after moving to a place about two hours away, I still visit from time to time specifically to stay at this Hotel and explore Takasaki. From the moment you step into the entrance with flowing water, you’re drawn into an extraordinary world. More than anything, I love the atmosphere of the large public bath. If you bathe before sunset, sunlight pours in and it’s bright and truly wonderful. Soaking in the open-air bath while listening to Shinkansen announcements as background music is pure bliss—I can forget everything. Both the guest rooms and the entire property are clean and comfortable. Since I’ve stayed many times, every visit feels like “I’m back.” The breakfast venue is very open and airy, and just as comfortable. The honey butter was so delicious that next time I plan to enjoy it generously again. Thank you always, and I look forward to staying with you again!

We stayed here to celebrate a proposal—one of life’s most important milestones. What impressed us most during our stay was the thoughtful attention from everyone, especially the person in charge. For the surprise proposal, they handled everything flexibly to match the situation, including preparing and handing over the cake and bouquet, which allowed me to feel at ease on the day. Thanks to that support, it became an unforgettable, truly wonderful time. Every dish was genuinely delicious, and the explanations were perfectly paced—not too long or too short—so we could enjoy not only the flavors but also the dining experience itself. The atmosphere inside the Accommodation and the views were also outstanding, and we were able to relax from the heart. Above all, we were so happy that their desire to make our stay memorable came through in every interaction. Thanks to them, both my partner and I naturally found ourselves saying, “Let’s definitely come back for anniversaries,” and it became two irreplaceable days for us. We decided to come on short notice, and once again we received warm, attentive hospitality, just like last time. We were able to relax in the lounge with drinks, refresh in the stone sauna in the morning, and enjoy the open-air bath in our Room many times, which helped us unwind. It was so good for a third visit that we felt this is the only Ryokan nearby where we can truly relax. We will definitely visit again.

If you’re staying in Gero for the architecture, Yunoshimakan is the place; if you’re staying for great food, I’d say this is it—Suimeien. Every dish was delicious, and the ayu sweetfish in particular was outstanding. The annex where we stayed was an adults-only area, which may be why it was so quiet at night. I was able to truly relax for the first time in a while. It also felt special to have access to a private Onsen reserved exclusively for annex guests—it was a fun and memorable experience. Both large public baths had towels available at the entrance, so there was no need to go back to the Room to get one. I could enjoy the Onsen anytime on a whim without bringing anything with me. (I especially liked the large bath on the first floor.) There is also a spot inside where you can enjoy coffee while looking outside; after breakfast, I spent a relaxing time reading there. I was amazed at how spotless everything was throughout the property—surely thanks to the excellent work of your housekeeping staff. It truly became a wonderful trip. Thank you very much. I will definitely stay again.
