Maizuru City, located 1.5 hours by train or car from Kyoto City. Just a 10-minute walk from Nishi-Maizuru Station. We serve traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine, featuring fresh fish from the Sea of Japan and Wakasa Bay. Maizuru is renowned for its delicious and fresh seafood. In spring, you can enjoy delicacies such as isaza, Tango torigai, and rock oysters, while in winter, the town is blessed with ingredients like Matsuba crab, yellowtail, oysters, and Spanish mackerel.Our Ryokan, established in 1902, is quite old but perfect for those who wish to relax on tatami mats. Unfortunately, Maizuru does not have Onsen, so our baths use heated water. Additionally, the baths are small, as they have remained unchanged since the Ryokan's founding in 1902.Our accommodation Plans mainly focus on seafood, but we also offer Plans that include Japanese wagyu beef.

Mount Akagi, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, is located about two hours from the city center. From the windows of Aoki Ryokan, which has been in operation on Mount Akagi since 1875, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Onuma and the highest peak, Mount Kurohime. Witness the mountains reflected upside down on the mirror-like calm surface of Lake Onuma after the morning mist clears, the stunning sight of Mount Kurohime bathed in the red hues of sunset, and the star-filled night sky against the pitch-black backdrop.The retro-style interior of the Ryokan, built with natural wood from Mount Akagi, exudes warmth and offers a tranquil atmosphere. Meals prepared with locally sourced ingredients are crafted by a seasoned chef, featuring specialties such as smelt, Joshu pork, sashimi konjac, mountain vegetables in spring, mushrooms in autumn, hearty winter hot pots, and salt-grilled sweetfish and trout, all of which are popular choices.The main building offers a variety of Japanese-style Rooms, a 70-tatami mat banquet hall, a panoramic bath overlooking Lake Onuma, and a "dining area" with sunken kotatsu-style seating for dinner. Breakfast is served at "Restaurant Numajiri," where you can enjoy the view of Lake Onuma. Next to the restaurant, there is a shop selling souvenirs and beverages. Across the parking lot, on the lakeshore, is a private cottage-style annex called "Jurin," where you can relax and sleep comfortably in a bed. The water flowing through the Ryokan's taps is all natural spring water drawn from the mountains. The baths heated with this spring water are known for their smooth texture and warming effect. Additionally, rice cooked with this soft, cold water and drip coffee made with it are highly praised for their unique taste.Located at an altitude of 1,350 meters, the shores of Lake Onuma are about 10°C cooler than the city center, making it an ideal summer retreat, often referred to as "the entire mountain is air-conditioned." In winter, the area experiences cold temperatures comparable to Hokkaido, and Lake Onuma becomes a rare spot in the Kanto region for ice fishing for smelt. From September to November, boat fishing is also available. Fishing equipment, boats, and tents can be rented from Aoki Ryokan's "Fishing Support Boat Service."Mount Akagi features two caldera lakes, Lake Onuma and Lake Konuma, as well as the high-altitude marshland of Kakumanbuchi. Peaks such as Mount Kurohime, Mount Jizo, Mount Suzuga, and Mount Arayama offer breathtaking views. Birds flit among the trees, including birch, Erman's birch, and Mizunara oak, filling the air with their songs. There is a beach right in front, and during the summer season, you can go to the sea in your swimsuit directly from your room! When you return, you can rinse off in the outdoor shower in the parking lot. After that, if you get hungry, you can enjoy a BBQ in the evening with grilled meat, yakisoba, grilled corn, and more. Even if it's not the swimming season, you can enjoy rock pooling and shell gathering on the beach, and there are many tourist spots nearby. It takes about 50 minutes by car north along the coast to the famous Kamogawa Sea World, and about 7 minutes south by car to the Nojimazaki Lighthouse at the southernmost tip of Chiba Prefecture. From the bench set on top of the rocky area there, you can have a 180-degree view of the blue sea and sky all to yourself! You can also see the sunrise and sunset. Please sit for a day and see for yourself (laughs). On holidays, there might be a line, so please share with others. Furthermore, from our facility, it takes about 45 minutes by car along the coast (about 25 minutes if not driving along the coast) to reach Tateyama City, where you can visit the Gyogyo! "Nagisa no Eki Tateyama" with the honorary stationmaster Sakana-kun Gallery. It's fun. Also, at our facility, you can enjoy unlimited YouTube Premium and U-NEX, allowing you to relax in your room. Our facility provides beds for up to 6 people as standard, but since there are double beds available, Child Sharing Existing Bedding is possible, allowing up to 9 people in Yuunagi and up to 10 people in Asanagi (Asanagi has 4 double beds). If there are more than 6 people, we have towels prepared for the number of people, so it would be helpful if you could let us know.
