This luxury Japanese-style Ryokan with views of Mt. Fuji offered exceptional service. The view from the Room was stunning, and the windows were polished to a shine, which showed true hospitality. Both the in-room bath and the large public bath were comfortable and deeply relaxing. The meals were also delicious. The attentive service made our children happy as well. This is an Accommodation we would love to visit again.

I stayed here when visiting Fukushima and going to Hawaiians. It was really close to Hawaiians, and since there were no meals included, I bought food at a nearby convenience store. The room was clean and well equipped, which made me feel at ease. The Onsen was also very pleasant, clean, and great.

I’d heard the rumors, and they were true: the setting, hospitality, and cuisine were all outstanding. I’ve always felt that the Tokugawa family helped shape the foundations of Japanese culture, and Shiraisi-ya is said to be an even older establishment with over 300 years of history. I felt as though I experienced the secret to its longevity firsthand. I’d gladly recommend it to friends.

I found this Facility on IKYU and liked it so much that I made a Reservation. Just as expected, I thoroughly enjoyed the Facility, the meals, and the Onsen (ceramic bath). During a conversation with the staff at dinner, we talked about Hachimantai’s Dragon Eye. They told me they had gone there after borrowing rental boots and that it was wonderful. So I went the next day right away. Like Zao Okama last year, I was moved by the breathtaking scenery. It was a truly great stay—enjoying both the magnificent nature and the delicious meals at the Facility. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us.

Thank you very much for taking care of us during our stay. We truly appreciate your accommodating our food allergies. The meals were absolutely delicious. The Ryokan baths, the private bath, and the public hot springs were all wonderful. It was a shame we couldn’t visit all of the public baths, but we’d love to come back and do a full hot spring tour next time! As for amenities, we didn’t have any particular issues, but I happened to forget my makeup remover and thought it would have been helpful if the Ryokan had one available. We’re grateful for the lovely time we had. Thank you very much.

Despite concerns about the earthquake, I traveled from Tokyo to Takachiho. I had been planning for a long time to visit Takachiho again, so I decided to go—and I was relieved that there was hardly any impact and I could stay with peace of mind. I was satisfied with everything: the Facility, the meals—everything. First of all, I was surprised that the Room had not only indoor and outdoor baths but also a sauna. It was my first time in my life staying in a Room with a sauna. The meals were explained in a picture-story style, and each dish had its own story and attention to detail, making them both delicious and fun to enjoy. Personally, I especially recommend the salt-baked kappo chicken and the panna cotta. On top of that, there was plenty of playful creativity with a school-festival vibe, and above all it was blissful time surrounded by the staff’s smiles. Nearby are Takachiho Shrine, night kagura performances, and Takachiho Gorge where you can also take a boat ride—an extremely convenient location. Thank you very much. If I have the chance, I’d love to return again.

It had switched to the early-summer menu. Even when I’m worn out from work and forget the sense of the season, staying at Sunset Susami always lets me head home feeling a little more refreshed. The creative dishes made with fresh, seasonal local ingredients are wonderful, and the Onsen—with different temperatures depending on where you bathe—is always excellent. The building is always kept spotless whenever I visit, and even when staff change over, they carefully clean tables after meals. One of this Accommodation’s charms is how strongly you can feel the staff’s sincerity. The special dessert introduced this time—the Inazumi Roll made by a front desk staff member—was truly delicious. The sponge was moist, and it paired perfectly with coffee. (As expected from a former Dojima Roll pastry chef—it really is on another level.) That’s given me yet another reason to stay at Sunset Susami. I love that I can always relax here (lol).

This trip was to celebrate my mother’s birthday. She requested to see the Onsen she had visited with my late father during their honeymoon, and also the snow monkeys at Jigokudani Monkey Park. We chose this Accommodation because Reviews repeatedly mentioned the private family bath and a homey, relaxing atmosphere. True to the Reviews, it was a wonderfully quiet and peaceful place. The warm glow of washi paper lamps displayed throughout was beautiful, and we could feel the proprietress’s thoughtful care in every detail. And the food—absolutely delicious! Dinner just kept coming (laugh). Every dish was freshly made and served hot. The best of all was the kake soba hand-made by the chef that very morning. I love soba and visit many places, but I’m sorry—this was truly the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Breakfast also made us happy with piping-hot dashimaki tamago. The highlight of breakfast was the miso soup—I wanted to take home the whole pot. As we’ve gotten older, we choose our trips carefully based on both meals and Accommodation quality, and this place offered outstanding value for money. More than anything, we made unforgettable memories here. On our way out, I bought one of the lamps that were on display at the Accommodation as a gift for my mother. Thanks to you, it became the best birthday present possible. We’ll come again in winter—and again for her birthday next year too. Although it’s a secluded Accommodation deep in the mountains, it’s relatively easy to access by car and not difficult to reach. The Accommodation features classic, traditional Japanese architecture, yet it feels clean and has been thoughtfully renovated for comfort and ease of use. It was clear how much care goes into its upkeep, which I truly admire. The surrounding nature is lush, and the greenery and gentle sound of the river are very soothing. That said, the bedding mattress felt a bit firm for me personally, which was a small minus point (I didn’t wake up sore the next morning, so this is purely my personal impression). The hot spring source is around 37°C and lukewarm, but there are also heated baths, so it wasn’t an issue. If I had one wish: since I’m not fond of lukewarm water, I would have liked the heated tub to be larger. Meals were mainly simple countryside dishes, but everything was very delicious. Younger guests might find it a little light; in that case, I recommend ordering additional dishes. For us it was just the right amount—and we could get refills of rice—so we were very satisfied. Many of the staff were young, but they were always smiling and pleasant, with excellent attentiveness and consideration. This is an outstanding Accommodation that makes Japanese guests feel at ease—I hope it never changes. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This is a well-established, reliable Hotel in Amami. There is an Onsen on the top floor, and soaking in the open-air bath while taking in a panoramic view of Naze Port washes away your fatigue. From your Room, the ocean is right in front of you. The sea below has coral reefs, and tropical fish—even Nemo and friends—swim by. The staff are kind and always make you feel comfortable, so it feels like coming home. Whenever I visit Amami, I spend one night here and have dinner at Yani. Resting while looking out over Amami’s sea from your Room feels wonderful, and in the morning you can relax over breakfast with views of the garden and ocean—this is a Hotel that leaves you feeling refreshed.

I visited by car with my husband and son on our first family trip in a while. We were delighted by the elegant lobby and lounge, beautifully decorated with flowers and furnishings, and by the stunning view of the cove from the windows. The cave-style bath we had been looking forward to, as well as the panoramic bath, were wonderfully relaxing, with silky-smooth water as we enjoyed the scenery. For dinner, we had an exquisite kaiseki course in a private dining room. We chose sashimi made from locally caught fish of the day, and every dish was outstanding—beautifully presented with impressive table settings. We also enjoyed freshly grilled fugu prepared right in front of us, along with a sake tasting. After dinner, we played darts, enjoyed wine at the bar, and went back to the baths—making the most of our stay. Our Room also had a fantastic view, and we were able to truly unwind. This is an unforgettable Accommodation that I would love to visit again.

Over the past few years, this Accommodation has become a place our family wants to visit at least once a year, and both kids and adults are always completely satisfied. This summer vacation we weren’t planning a trip to the Izu area, so we thought a summer stay might not be possible—but when we learned about the summer vacation discount offer, we knew we had to go and made a last-minute Reservation. With prices rising everywhere, we truly appreciate this thoughtful gesture from the Facility. As always, every staff member—from arrival to departure—shows wonderful hospitality that makes for a genuinely relaxing stay. The Facility is also very clean. The summer vacation pop-up stalls were unexpectedly enjoyed more by the adults than the kids; it was fun seeing everyone feel like children again. It was disappointing that we couldn’t play tennis due to construction on the tennis courts, but there were so many enjoyable activities that we barely had enough time. We also love the surrounding satoyama countryside nature, so next time we’d like to stay in spring.

I stayed one night in a Superior Room. At 43 m², it was spacious and very relaxing. The bed and pillows were comfortable and made for a great night’s sleep. I also enjoyed unwinding in the Room bath with the Hotel’s bath salts. I had both dinner and breakfast at “Tateru Yoshino.” Dinner was a full-course French meal, and it was delicious again this time. Breakfast was quiet and leisurely, which I really liked. The Hotel’s signature curry was excellent. Once again, I had a relaxing stay and was very satisfied.

Despite the difficult circumstances following the earthquake, all of the staff continued to provide high-quality service with warm smiles. Thank you very much. I also thoroughly enjoyed the bath while being moved by the beauty of the sunset and the sea. We truly appreciated the anniversary surprise as well. We would love to stay again.

We stayed here for an anniversary trip. The Room was bright and pleasant, making it a very comfortable space. From the warm welcome to our departure, all the staff provided consistently thoughtful and attentive service throughout our stay, and we were impressed from start to finish. The Onsen was wonderful as well, and we enjoyed it many times. It left both our skin and hair feeling cared for and silky smooth. The meals—and the way they were served—were outstanding, and everything tasted exceptional. The tableware was beautiful too; we couldn’t help but feel the chef’s dedication in every detail. As always, we had a relaxing stay. Thank you very much. Compared to the past, it felt like there were fewer dishes, but given the times, I understand that can’t be helped. I was also happy that you still served rockfish. Just one thing I noticed: I wish there had been a bit more sauce for the rockfish.

The staff’s hospitality, attentive care down to the smallest details, delicious meals, and well-maintained Facility all made this an outstanding Ryokan with nothing to fault. The Onsen was wonderfully smooth, free-flowing from the source, and because the temperature is relatively low, you can enjoy it again and again. We had a truly elegant stay. Highly recommended. This Accommodation, Sagamiya, was a wonderful place where we could truly feel traditional Japanese hospitality. As soon as we arrived by car, the staff noticed us right away and came out to assist, kindly helping us park with ease. They guided us to our Room, and the attendant came to greet us and made tea for us. These days we often stay at more Western-style Hotels, so it was a pleasure to enjoy this Japanese-style hospitality again after a long time. We enjoyed a delicious in-room meal in the tatami Room with a lovely view. The open-air bath in the Room was also excellent, and even one night was enough to leave us feeling fully refreshed. All of the staff were very pleasant. We also appreciated the many thoughtful touches throughout our stay—it felt reassuring that experienced staff could make good judgments on the spot. We would love to visit again.

I booked this stay because of the great Reviews, and it really caught my interest. After sightseeing at Kinomiya Shrine, we took a taxi there, and they warmly welcomed us at the entrance upon arrival. We were traveling with our 4-year-old and 1-year-old children, and everyone was so kind that the kids seemed to have a wonderful time. And above all, I was amazed at how incredibly delicious the food was. My husband and I weren’t very hungry when we went to dinner, but every dish was so good that before we knew it, we had finished everything. Even the appetizers were outstanding. We’ve traveled to many places before, but this was the first time we’ve had food this delicious. The children’s meal was also excellent, and even our child who usually eats very little seemed to eat a lot. Since our younger child is still small, my younger child and I used the in-Room bath, but it was spacious and spotless, so we enjoyed it more than enough. When we come to Atami again, I definitely want to stay here again!

The Room had a private open-air bath, and it was wonderful. We also enjoyed the delicious drinks and snacks. The meals were generous in portion, and the Yamato beef shabu-shabu was especially excellent. The children were thrilled with the table tennis and board games as well!
