Do nothing — just watch, just be. That kind of time is the star of your trip. A small villa with only three buildings, perched on a hill on Kouri Island. Gaze out at the unobstructed sea and sky as you sink into your private pool. We invite you to spend time wrapped in an “Earth Theater” woven by the sky, sea, light, clouds, and wind.
For example, enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee on the deck on a sunny day, decorating with seasonally arranged flowers, or placing your favorite candles in the bathroom to spend a relaxing moment...These are things that should naturally be part of everyday life, but in the hustle and bustle of daily routines, they get pushed to the corners and become something extraordinary. We wanted to create a place where you can reclaim those small "extraordinary" moments that were once part of your everyday life.In a unique space with just a bath and a bed, we hope you can spend a slightly special time. With that thought in mind, we named it "The Bath and Bed Hayama."
Hanare NINOHMI is located in a corner of the old Kameyama castle town, which was established by Mitsuhide Akechi. Under the supervision of Alex Kerr, a researcher of Eastern culture, the city of Kameoka renovated a historic incense merchant's traditional house, transforming it into a Property. The Property features a two-story main building and a detached Room connected by a corridor. Two gardens and a storehouse situated between them add elegance and grandeur to the Facility. As the Property is available for exclusive rental (three buildings available), you can forget the hustle and bustle of daily life and spend your time in relaxation. Kameoka is a major production area for Kyoto vegetables and has long been called the "kitchen of Kyoto" due to its abundance of ingredients. We offer Japanese cuisine and Italian dishes that make use of these ingredients (advance Reservation required). Additionally, there are restaurants and supermarkets nearby, allowing you to dine out or bring in ingredients to cook in your Room freely. Kameoka is approximately 20 minutes from JR Kyoto Station. Although it is adjacent to the tourist city of Kyoto, it remains relatively undiscovered by tourists, offering a sense of hidden charm. The expansive rural landscapes and old townscapes will surely provide a sense of tranquility. At Hanare NINOHMI, you can enjoy a relaxing time that cannot be experienced in bustling Kyoto. On the day after your stay, we recommend exploring the nature and history of Kameoka, and then returning via the Sagano Scenic Railway or Hozugawa River Boat Ride. We look forward to welcoming you. **The Origin of "NINOHMI"** The Kameoka Basin was once a lake, and according to legend, it came to be called "NINOHMI" due to the sight of red waves ("Tan no Nami") on the water. Additionally, the characteristic scenery of the Kameoka Basin, where the morning mist and sunrise create a sea of clouds resembling red waves, inspired the name as a word that encapsulates the essence of Kameoka. The Property is located about a 15-minute walk from JR Kameoka Station. Nearby, you can find attractions such as the Hoko Storehouse of the Kameoka Festival's Hagoromo-yama float, sake breweries, and soy sauce breweries.

La toile is a standalone house nestled in the satoyama, built in the 1950s when Japan was entering its period of rapid economic growth. The challenge was how to incorporate the passage of "50 years" while preserving the natural textures of the materials that make up the building. The answer, reached after much effort, was inspired by the "Schindler House," a masterpiece by Rudolph Schindler, a pioneer of American Modernism. It resembles a Japanese house manifested in America, yet it was built with a design philosophy distinct from traditional Japanese architecture—a fusion of modernism and Japanese culture. An homage to the 1950s and a blend of Japanese architecture and modernism. As a hidden retreat in the Shimosa district of Takase Town, far removed from typical tourist destinations, La toile awaits your visit.

Step through the door, and a sense of wonder begins to stir. Pass through the corridor garden and stand by the courtyard garden, and the mystery lingers. By the time you ascend to the second floor and open the inner window from the bedroom, it all starts to make sense. A house within a house, and a home outside the home. The blend of history-soaked fittings and a modern, expansive space creates a feeling of freely traversing time and boundaries. Just as travel should be free, a Property need not be ordinary. This house teaches you that.
