This building once served as a "Honjin," a resting place for the Matsumoto feudal lord traveling to Edo during the Sankin-kotai system. Over 100 years, it has accumulated remnants from various eras, packed tightly within its walls. As we carefully uncovered these layers with the help of local residents, the essence and potential of this accommodation began to reveal themselves.The cultural figures who passed through here, and those who warmly welcomed them with heartfelt hospitality. An old hearth unexpectedly discovered when removing floorboards—when its fire is lit again after all these years, this Honjin will come alive once more. Perhaps this space has been waiting for someone all along. Opened in 2006, with a detached suite added in April 2011. The Iya Valley, where the Iya River flows from Mount Tsurugi and carves a V-shape into the Shikoku Mountains, offers breathtakingly majestic gorge scenery. "Keikoku no Kakure Yado Iya Bijin" is a Property with an Onsen and a soba restaurant, located right in front of this lush green valley and clear stream. Originally opened in 1975 as a handmade soba restaurant using local buckwheat and spring water, the Property later added 8 Rooms and a detached accommodation to provide visitors to Iya with a more relaxing and leisurely stay. All Rooms are equipped with open-air baths, allowing guests to fully enjoy the Onsen while admiring the stunning views. Our Onsen facilities include separate indoor baths for men and women, a mixed-gender indoor bath, and a mixed-gender open-air bath. There are three different spring sources. You can enjoy three distinct types of Onsen. Magoroku Onsen Rokuan is a rare village-style Ryokan, with buildings separated into individual lodges. It may not feel luxurious in every way, but because you will often step outside, you can experience Magoroku’s great nature directly. The stillness of summer nights, the beauty of the morning sun, and the cool breeze. There are experiences and moments of awe that can only be found here. We have six Rooms in total; each Room accommodates up to two guests for a relaxing stay. Our dining area is counter-style and is the only place where all guests gather at once.
