Kochinda Hotel is a small Hotel with only 12 rooms on a tiny island. At the center of the building, there is a banyan tree patio, surrounded by a corridor with tables and chairs. We have used solid wood as much as possible to create a warm and natural atmosphere, and the interior exudes a calming ambiance with the scent of wood. By combining large-format tiles with mosaic tiles, we achieve both practicality and design—creating an artistic space that goes beyond the conventional image of wet areas. The washbasin counter is crafted from solid Nagano-grown wood that has been sun-dried in rhythm with the lunar cycle, and custom-designed as a one-of-a-kind built-in piece to suit the space. The texture of natural materials and handcrafted warmth bring calm to the entire room. In addition, we make use of natural materials as much as possible and minimize chemical substances, creating a gentle space with consideration for the environment. A quiet, comfortable design space in harmony with Hakuba’s nature. Restaurants such as cafés and izakayas are within a 5-minute walk. Day-use Onsen baths, supermarkets, and Iwatake Resort are all within a 10-minute drive.
