Clearing the grove of trees that once separated the lakeside from the mansion, a wooden deck terrace was built, revealing a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji in a miraculous composition. 'The lofty peak of Fuji in Suruga, No matter how often I see it, I never tire of it.' These are the words of Takahashi no Mushimaro, a poet from the Nara period.
