A private rental Accommodation renovated from a storehouse adjacent to the Japan Folk Toy Museum, featuring a small terrace.

Toto Japanese Folk Toy Museum Kura no Yado is a private rental Accommodation created by renovating a rice storehouse on the banks of the Kurashiki River, said to be the oldest among the museum’s group of buildings. From the windows facing the river, you can enjoy views of the water and townscape, with Mukoyama in the distance. The Japanese Folk Toy Museum is a privately run museum specializing in folk toys, collecting and exhibiting traditional toys made across Japan from the Edo period through the early Showa era. This kura also marks where it all began: in 1967 (Showa 42), when the museum opened at the recommendation of Yoshinosuke Tonomura, first director of the Kurashiki Folkcraft Museum, it served as its very first exhibition room. We hope you will enjoy a relaxing stay while feeling the prayers and wishes embodied in these folk toys, along with each region’s history and culture.
