The first floor is designed like a luxury cruise ship, and the second floor like a spaceship! A Room full of playful ideas carefully crafted by the owner to bring joy to children! Both adults and children are sure to feel excited! The treasure hunt to find treasures hidden behind 8 secret doors is also very popular. The first floor offers a calm atmosphere with a clean and spacious space resembling an art museum. It features round windows, large wooden doors like those on a luxury cruise ship, and a Renaissance painting on the ceiling. There are two sofa beds for two people each. As you climb the stairs to the second floor, you enter the world of a spaceship. The bedrooms include a spaceship (for 3 people) and a control room (for 3 people). The dynamic spaceship design allows you to enter through futuristic doors like those seen in sci-fi movies. From the spaceship cockpit, you can view the vast universe. Pressing the self-destruct button won’t cause an actual explosion, but you’ll hear a small explosion sound. Feel like you're on a space journey by handling the cockpit controls and pressing buttons! (Please note, this is not a game). The stylish control room features illustrations that make it feel like you're gazing into space through large windows, offering an extraordinary experience. The ceiling and round windows are also designed to entertain. Sleep in astronaut-themed beds and feel like an astronaut yourself! Take fun photos and create unforgettable memories. Other features include a luxurious bathroom with three types of showers and a spacious bathtub, a large living room, a big kitchen with plenty of amenities, two toilets, free parking for two cars, and a convenient location near the station, supermarket, and convenience stores—definitely attractive points!
A keyaki-wood Onsen Ryokan—beloved by Kenji Miyazawa and Torahiko Tamiya—crafted entirely from zelkova, a style that can no longer be recreated today. The historic Namari Onsen, first opened around 600 years ago, offers exceptionally high-quality waters recognized by selections such as “New Japan’s 100 Famous Hot Springs,” “Japan’s 100 Famous Hot Springs,” and “Japan’s Onsen Heritage.” Unusually even among well-known hot spring areas, the property has five source springs, and all four baths on site are luxurious 100% free-flowing natural spring water (kakenagashi). It is also known as “Namari-no-Yu,” featured in Kenji Miyazawa’s masterpiece *The Bears of Nametoko Mountain*, making this a special Accommodation where the story’s world and a historic Onsen come together. In 2025, the main building—of outstanding historical value—was designated a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property, allowing you to fully enjoy the beauty of traditional Japanese architecture as well. In particular, we highly recommend the 100% natural self-springing rock bath “Hakuen-no-Yu,” said to be Japan’s deepest—a superb bath that warms you through to your core.

An award-winning “transparent architecture that blends into the forest,” recognized by architectural prizes in Japan and abroad. A one-of-a-kind masterpiece, featured repeatedly in the media.【The ultimate luxury—inside extraordinary architecture】 Wake up to dappled sunlight and birdsong. In season, squirrels may even stop by to say good morning from the 3rd-floor bedroom. Outside the windows stretches an untouched forest with nothing to block your view; at night, only silence and a sky full of stars remain. To preserve nature as much as possible, only three trees were felled during construction. Put power and screens aside for a while—and do nothing. That time is the greatest luxury here.【Up to 3 bedrooms—ideal for multiple families】 Perfect for a quiet weekend for a couple and their dog, or for 2–3 families / 2–3 generations traveling together, or gatherings of 4–6 friends. By adding the optional detached annex “Ya no Ie,” you can expand to a 3-bedroom layout and accommodate up to 10 guests. It’s also popular as a “secret base” just for kids.【Most popular: Private Chef Plan】 Authentic Italian cuisine sourced directly from renowned nearby restaurants, prepared at your table in this architectural masterpiece. We also offer a more casual catering Plan. As dining out or shopping requires driving, we highly recommend considering the Private Chef option for dinner.【The luxury of slowing down】 Time spent here is not simply a trip to look at scenery—it’s a journey inward, toward yourself, your family, and close friends you can truly relax with. Deep conversations born from stillness; bonds that grow stronger in unhurried moments; time to remember what matters most—things left behind in an ever-accelerating world. These moments at Wa no Ie are one of today’s greatest luxuries.【Enjoy nature with an immersive stay】 A car is essential to reach central Karuizawa or convenience stores. The building also prioritizes design over practicality in its structure. But that is exactly what makes it so special: stepping away from everyday life and being surrounded by nature. For experienced travelers who embrace every bit of “inconvenience,” as well as children seeking adventure, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime memory. There are many stairs throughout; if you’re staying with children or pets, we can install baby gates free of charge for your peace of mind.
