We visited with our children. It was an extremely hot day during summer vacation. Since we arrived early, we had lunch at the restaurant and enjoyed soft-serve ice cream at Usanchu Cafe. The restaurant’s limited “Takehara Fish Rice” (only 10 servings per day) was also delicious. The staff member who explained how to eat it was very pleasant, which left a great impression. To be honest, we didn’t have high expectations for the breakfast and dinner buffets because it’s island food, but everything was very tasty. The sea firefly observation event from 8:00 PM and the morning walk were meaningful experiences that helped us learn about Okunoshima’s history. The former principal’s talk also seemed fun for the kids. Touring the island on the C Walk was another enjoyable experience for our children. I would highly recommend this Hotel to families with kids and to rabbit lovers.

All the staff were very friendly, and we had a comfortable stay. The bed in the Room was also cozy, and we slept well. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. For dinner, instead of white rice, we had kiritanpo hot pot. At first I missed having rice and felt it might not be enough, but the kiritanpo was incredibly tasty and left us completely full. The breakfast buffet was good, but I felt there weren’t many local specialties. The milk is delicious. The bath feels more like a health Facility that local residents also use for day trips; it’s not an Onsen with much atmosphere. However, there is a pool, so it may be great for families with children. Come to think of it, since there were several families with small children, they seemed to separate the dinner seating areas—so we adults could enjoy a quiet, relaxed meal. We really appreciated that consideration. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and were very satisfied. You can refresh yourself in this lush green area. The nearby waterfall is well worth seeing too.

My 84-year-old mother wanted to eat conger eel, so the three of us visited together with my niece. We had a Reservation for the Yama-no-Iori Room, but since there was a cancellation, we were upgraded to a Room with an open-air bath, which made us very happy. There were many international staff members, and their service was truly pleasant and welcoming. The food was consistently delicious as always—nothing to complain about. We enjoyed conger eel in many different dishes: sashimi, grilled, shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, and more. The salt-grilled sweetfish was also excellent, and it was my first time trying sweetfish rice—delicious and very satisfying. My mother and I have visited several times before; it was my niece’s first visit, but she really liked it too, which we were glad to see. Just one thing: my niece said the pillow was a bit low, which was the only disappointment. Because we decided on our trip to Lake Toya at the last minute, I didn’t think we would be able to make a Reservation at a good Hotel. Since May is one of the peak seasons for travel in Japan, I wasn’t expecting much. But after staying there, the Hotel quality exceeded my expectations. I especially loved the dinner buffet. There was an incredible variety of dishes, and many were far better than I anticipated. I ate too much and ended up walking outside for hours afterward to feel better (laugh). Breakfast was more standard compared with dinner, but still very satisfying. As for the Onsen, “Hoshi no Yu” was truly outstanding—I highly recommend trying it at least once. Waking up early to use it was a bit tough, but it was absolutely worth it. The feeling of seeing Mt. Yotei from the Onsen in the morning is hard to put into words. It was truly spectacular.

We stayed at Kasuikyo on our first trip to Fukui for my wife’s birthday. I was surprised to be warmly welcomed when we arrived by car. At check-in and during our meal, the proprietress even gave us a surprise gift, and we were truly grateful. The food was also excellent.
