Shichijo Miyabi is a Property machiya accommodation that was renovated from a Kyoto machiya existing since Meiji 45 and opened on March 10, 2020. Incorporating Japanese modern elements into the traditional Kyoto machiya, it offers a space where tradition and modernity can be felt. Located near the recently popular Umekoji Park, it is close to Kyoto Station and conveniently situated for visiting famous Kyoto city attractions such as Kinkakuji, Gion, and Kiyomizudera from the Shichijo Omiya bus stop.

A majestic Yakusugi cedar tree, over 2,000 years old and now extremely rare, stands as the guardian of the house, surrounded by calligraphy works created by renowned calligrapher Rieko Kawabe specifically for this home. Inside, guests can experience the passage of time through high-resolution audio of forest and river sounds, crafted from the pristine natural environments of Japan, reflecting seasonal changes as well as the transitions of morning, afternoon, and evening. The semi-open-air bath overlooking the sea features a tub made from solid domestic Japanese cypress, filled with carbonated nano-bubble spring water. For the main bedding, we use futons made with natural horsehair, now a rarity, offering a uniquely balanced firmness for an unparalleled sleeping experience.

It's like opening a giant time capsule. That was the impression when we first entered to begin the restoration of this accommodation. This building once served as a "Honjin," a resting place for the Matsumoto feudal lord traveling to Edo during the Sankin-kotai system. Over 100 years, it has accumulated remnants from various eras, packed tightly within its walls. As we carefully uncovered these layers with the help of local residents, the essence and potential of this accommodation began to reveal themselves.The cultural figures who passed through here, and those who warmly welcomed them with heartfelt hospitality. An old hearth unexpectedly discovered when removing floorboards—when its fire is lit again after all these years, this Honjin will come alive once more. Perhaps this space has been waiting for someone all along. 【Konjakuso Bentencho Osaka Bay】is a spacious villa-style accommodation with a total of 83.7㎡ across two floors, featuring a private open-air bath. It can accommodate up to 10 adults. This beautiful Japanese-style house is the only temple estate resort on Ishigaki Island, offering a glimpse into Japan's rich history. The Property features a magnificent garden and a sparkling starry sky, "Sanshoen Kabira no Yado." The pride of the Property is its lush green garden that surrounds the estate. This area, where Higashiyama Roku is located, is called "Rokuhara," and nearby are Rokuharamitsu-ji Temple, Rokkaku-no-Tsuji, and Rokuhara Chinko-ji Temple. A Kyo-machiya, completed in Taisho 3 (1914), has been carefully restored by skilled craftsmen, preserving its original exterior. Inside the building, features such as fittings and transoms, which have been cherished by generations of owners, reflect over 100 years of history. We have created a serene space where guests staying at the Property can also feel a connection to the time when the building was originally constructed. The Rooms at Higashiyama Roku have been designed under the supervision of washi paper designer Eriko Horiki, who created washi light walls and lighting, offering a space where guests can enjoy the subtle shadows, the charm, and the transitions of a machiya. The lighting and Shigaraki ware round bathtubs, supervised by washi designer Eriko Horiki, as well as the noren (curtain) featuring calligraphy by Hina Aoyagi, the director of the Hokuriku Calligraphy Institute, are just some of the carefully curated details found throughout.

"Shinshinen," a renowned machiya in Nishijin, is a 160-year-old traditional architectural gem. Step inside and be transported back to the Edo period with its preserved historical charm. The property features classic machiya elements such as a tōriniwa (passage garden), an inner garden, and a tsuboniwa adorned with Kibune stones sourced from Kibune Shrine, creating picturesque beauty akin to artwork. Accommodations include two guest rooms: one with a 12-tatami shoin-style living room and another with an 8-tatami living room, accommodating up to 9 guests. We have renovated a traditional "Kyo-machiya" that still remains in Kyoto. You can stay in this historic townhouse and experience a simulated lifestyle in Kyoto. This Property is the fourth dog-friendly Kyo-machiya in our series. We collaborated with companies that support our mission of "preserving machiya and Kyoto's landscape." The noren curtain was specially crafted using denim fabric from Okayama Prefecture by "CEUEU," and the furniture features products from the Italian furniture brand "Kartell." While the exterior retains the traditional look of a Kyo-machiya, the interior is modern and stylish, inspired by the image of a highland villa, offering a comfortable and chic Kyo-machiya experience.
