Originally, it was a culinary Ryokan called "Umekiya Ryokan," which had been in operation since the Meiji era. At the time, it was a familiar presence for the local community, even being used for weddings and gatherings. However, it was eventually closed, much to the regret of many. In December 2019, the Property was renovated while preserving the charm of the old Ryokan, and reopened as "Umekiya." We strive to create a space where you can feel the atmosphere woven by time while adapting to modern travel styles. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we hope you can enjoy a leisurely stay not only at Umekiya but also in the entire town of Toshi.

【Onsen Sommelier Ambassador's Property】Located just a 6-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station. This historic Onsen Ryokan has a legacy of over 300 years. The wooden three-story Ryokan, built over 100 years ago, retains traces of its history in features such as staircase drawers, window frames, ceiling boards, and shoe racks, which are now rare to find. To ensure a comfortable stay for all guests, we have renovated most of the rooms while preserving some of the original charm. Since its establishment in the early Edo period, the oldest and finest Onsen in Hakone (renowned for its skin-beautifying properties) has been continuously flowing. Guests can enjoy it as a "private" and "source-fed" Onsen experience.
