This Facility is a renovated traditional Japanese house with over 150 years of history. The charming old features have been carefully restored to reflect the original design, and in the Room with an irori (traditional Japanese hearth), you can look up to see the thatched roof attic, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Located between the World Heritage Site Hiraizumi and the fishing port town of Kesennuma, this area was once a small village that developed alongside the Kitakami River. Unlike typical tourist destinations, the surroundings are rich in nature, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. We have set the check-out time at 12:00 PM, allowing you to fully enjoy a leisurely stay.

All 30 guest rooms showcase the timeless design, spaces, materials, and comfort of traditional machiya townhouses, expressed through a different design theme in each room. The designer machiya Hotel “THE MACHIYA EBISUYA” carries this heritage into the present without letting tradition fade. For breakfast, we offer two options: a Japanese set breakfast featuring fragrant machiya-style dashi broth, and a machiya panini breakfast. KANAU is a hotel and restaurant that opened in April 2019 after renovating the nationally designated Important Cultural Property, "Kanau Former Imperial Residence." Located quietly along the clear stream of the Nyu River in Wada, northern Nishiyoshino Village, Nara Prefecture, this historic site dates back to the Jōkyū War of 1221. At that time, Fujiwara Tansan, who served as a Kumano official, responded to Emperor Gotoba's request and joined the Battle of Uji River. After their defeat, Tansan settled in Kanau instead of returning to his hometown Kumano. The current owner is the 29th generation descendant of Tansan. During the time of Hori Nobumasa (the fourth generation from Tansan), Emperor Go-Daigo was welcomed into Nobumasa's residence at Kanau after being driven out of Kyoto by Ashikaga Takauji at the end of Engen Year One (1336). This residence later served as an imperial palace for Emperors Go-Murakami, Chokei, and Go-Kameyama during Southern Court history. Today it welcomes you as Hotel & Restaurant KANAU.The gate designated as an Important Cultural Property features a plaque inscribed with "Imperial Residence" by Yoshimura Torataro from Tenchu-gumi. Next to this gate stands an Edo-period row house building used for accommodation. While its exterior remains unchanged from that era, its interior has been modernized for your comfort. Each room includes a piano available for free use—even overnight playing is allowed! Kominka Accommodation LOOF Ori-no-Ie is a private rental Accommodation with a total floor area of approximately 420 m², located in Otsuki City, once a post town along the Koshu Kaido. This Property is the fourth dog-friendly Kyo-machiya in our series. We collaborated with companies that support our mission of "preserving machiya and Kyoto's landscape." The noren curtain was specially crafted using denim fabric from Okayama Prefecture by "CEUEU," and the furniture features products from the Italian furniture brand "Kartell." While the exterior retains the traditional look of a Kyo-machiya, the interior is modern and stylish, inspired by the image of a highland villa, offering a comfortable and chic Kyo-machiya experience.
