Located just a 10-minute drive from Okayama Station, our property is situated in the bustling downtown area, right between Okayama Station and Okayama Castle/Korakuen Garden. We are renovating one floor per year, offering uniquely designed Rooms such as those where you can relax barefoot or sit on tatami mats. We also have family Rooms for 2 to 4 people, where you can sleep on futons, allowing children to safely enjoy Child Sharing Existing Bedding without the worry of falling off, and even crawl around freely. These features have been highly praised by families. Additionally, we have a parking lot on the first floor (the front desk is on the second floor) that can accommodate vehicles like Hiace vans, allowing you to access the building without getting wet in the rain. Our in-house restaurant serves breakfast where fish is freshly grilled on an iron plate right in front of you, providing a delicious and energizing start to your day. We highly recommend giving it a try. The surrounding area is convenient for your stay, with many restaurants, supermarkets, and even a general hospital that accepts emergency cases at night. Our Ryokan was established in 1870 (Meiji 3) as Ishimura Ryokan in the Nanpoen area, slightly south of its current location. The founder, who served as a head officer at the Hakone checkpoint during the Edo period, began developing Onsen in Owakudani during the early Meiji era and started operating as a healing retreat by drawing hot spring water from there. In 1913 (Taisho 2), we relocated to this site and renamed it Senkoro. For this reason, we are known as Sengokuhara's original Onsen retreat.Before World War II, Sengokuhara was a special area frequented by prominent figures from political and financial circles. The nearby Sengoku Golf Course was even played on by Emperor Showa alongside international diplomats.Many distinguished guests have stayed at our Ryokan over the years, including notable figures such as Eiichi Shibusawa, Kihachiro Okura, Kichizaemon Sumitomo, Aritomo Yamagata, Takashi Hara, Kiichiro Hiranuma; artists like Somei Yuki and Suiun Komuro; literary figures such as Kiyokata Kaburaki and Sotaro Yasui; and writers like Sohou Tokutomi, Masao Kumei, Chogoro Kaionji, Jun Takami among others.Sengokuhara is part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park's special district with strict environmental regulations. Building height limits along with restrictions on colors, decorations or signage are rigorously enforced here. In front of our property lies Hakone’s outer rim mountains covered in lush greenery that turn beautifully red during autumn foliage season.
