It took about 10 minutes by taxi from Kanonji Station and cost around 1,200 yen. What I especially loved was being able to use the Onsen in the building across the street (sauna lovers will enjoy it even more). We could reach Ariakehama Beach in about 5 minutes from the Hotel and watch the sunset. Roasting and eating marshmallows over a campfire was also great. Breakfast was stylish and delicious, too. I could hear bell crickets, but I was surprised there were hardly any other insects. Thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality.

We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. On the second day, our beloved dog suddenly passed away. As a senior dog, we had prepared for the possibility, but it happened so unexpectedly that we had not brought items such as ice packs for bringing him home. The Hotel kindly provided a basket to lay him to rest in, towels, ice packs, and a blanket. We had reserved dinner at the restaurant as well, but thanks to the staff’s thoughtful consideration, they arranged a private room for us. Because there was a thunderstorm, they also drove us to the dining venue by car, allowing us to enjoy one last meal slowly with him by our side. We are truly sorry for any trouble we caused during the busy summer holiday season. Thanks to your support, we were able to return home safely and send him off peacefully. This year’s extreme heat was especially hard on senior dogs, but we are very grateful that he was able to spend his final moments in the cool Nasu Highlands—enjoying his favorite dog run, Onsen time, and delicious meals. This was our first stay here, and I feel it is rare to find a Hotel that can respond so quickly and compassionately in an emergency. We still have two other dogs at home and would love to visit again. Of course, both the meals and the Facility were excellent as well. Thank you very much for all your help during our stay.

I stayed here in August. As an Accommodation affiliated with the Japan Association for the Protection of Secret Hot Springs, it was incredibly quiet—and I was surprised when the inn suddenly appeared in such a secluded setting. Surrounded by greenery, I was soothed by the sound of the river and insects. The main building has a wonderful sense of history, while the Room had been renovated and was very comfortable. Overall, it isn’t overly luxurious, but it feels cozy and relaxing. The mineral-rich Maki no Shimizu spring water could be enjoyed even inside the Room, and it tasted great. For bathing, you can reserve Mountain Bath (Deep Bath / Stone Bath) for private use depending on the time slot. If you want to secure your preferred time, I recommend checking in early. The large public bath that’s available anytime also had a pleasant open-air bath. However, in summer there are horseflies around, so it may be hard to fully relax. The Onsen water quality was excellent—my skin felt silky smooth afterward. Meals were served in a private dining room; both the sliced raw carp and meat dishes were generous portions. The breakfast rice porridge cooked with hot spring water was especially outstanding. They also offered many local sake options, all of which were delicious. There is a smoking area near the front desk, and at certain times I noticed a lingering cigarette smell. Overall though, I was very satisfied. I’d love to stay again. Thank you very much.

We stayed at this Hotel because it is close to the gondola for trekking at Hakuba Happo-One. The interior was simply charming, and we relaxed on the lobby sofas in the evening—the high ceilings made it feel like an overseas Hotel. Many of the staff were from abroad, but everyone was friendly and provided excellent service, making our stay very pleasant. We visited in summer this time, and would love to come back in winter as well.

Although the Hotel is located in the countryside, the staff’s hospitality and the quality of the meals are on par with a three-star hotel.

I’ve stayed here several times, but this was my first time at Kobushi. ○ There is a gap at the bottom of the Room door, so outside noise carries in easily. ○ Because there is no door to the dining area, food smells spread throughout the entire floor. Also, dinner time is set at 90 minutes, and the next dishes come slowly. When dining with a child (one-plate meal), they finished early and it was difficult. These two points were drawbacks. Everything else was perfect. You can enjoy yourself from morning until late afternoon the next day! You can play a lot and relax, and everyone from children to adults will be satisfied. No matter how many times we come, my child says they want to stay again. Regarding meals, I’d appreciate it if the serving pace could be faster for guests with children—once they finish eating, they have nothing to do.

We stayed as a family. It was disappointing that the beer had run out in the lounge at night, but there was a great variety of dinner dishes and drinks. At breakfast, we loved being able to eat as much as we wanted—whole tomatoes, blue cheese, and more. The bath and sauna were very relaxing, we had fun playing table tennis, and the starry sky was beautiful. Our whole family was very satisfied. We would love to stay again if we have the opportunity.

This was my third stay. It was my first time visiting in summer, and the lush greenery outside the window was very soothing. There are many international staff members, but everyone works hard and it never feels out of place. This time, I ordered cake and coffee to go from the café lounge, and I really appreciated how a Japanese staff member carefully packed the cup in the cake box so it wouldn’t tip over—such thoughtful attention to detail. I’ll be back again. Thank you very much.

We visited on a summer vacation weekend with our 6-month-old large dog (Golden Retriever, male) and our family of four. Nasu Highlands has many dog-friendly Accommodations, and we’re really glad we chose to stay here! The Dog Comfort Cottage was spacious, and any odors were hardly noticeable. Our dog was thrilled with the sofa and the terrace. The path to the bath is a steep slope, but it was convenient that we could enter the Onsen building directly. Thanks to that steep slope, the view from the terrace was exceptional. The dinner and breakfast buffet in particular were delicious, and everyone—from the person serving us to the Hotel staff—was wonderful. Our family was truly impressed. (Thank you so much, Ms. F-sawa!) Since it was peak season, check-in took quite a while, but thanks to our Diamond member benefit of late check-out, check-out went smoothly. Next time we’d like to come at a different time. Even though it was our first trip with our dog, we felt at ease and had a comfortable stay. We’d love to stay again.

As soon as I walked in, the Room was so wonderful that I got really excited. All of the staff were polite and amazing. The food and the Thai boat platter were excellent, and it made me very happy. I also had flowers prepared as part of the Plan, and they were beautifully arranged with great taste—absolutely stunning! I definitely want to stay again.

The Room was spacious and comfortable with individual air conditioning, and the front desk staff were kind and attentive. The large public bath was also very relaxing, with an open-air bath and a sauna. The amenities were well stocked, and I have no complaints at all. If I’m in the area again, I will definitely stay here again. I can confidently recommend it to everyone.

All the staff were incredibly kind, attentive, friendly, and wonderful!! Even though it was very reasonably priced, the Room was clean, there was a private bath, a relaxing area with manga and games, free drinks, a microwave, and access to the rooftop—our kids were delighted! Overall it was compact and easy to get around, making it very comfortable to stay! This time we booked No Meals Included, but next time we’d like to come back and relax with meals included as well! We stayed with a total of seven guests—five adults and two young children—and everyone was able to relax comfortably throughout our stay. The luxurious, open layout was truly impressive, never once feeling cramped even with this many people. True to the “self auberge” concept, shopping for fresh local ingredients and taking our time cooking them over the lava stone hearth was an exceptional experience. It wasn’t just about cooking—we enjoyed a truly indulgent time gathered around the fire, relaxing and chatting at our own pace. The private sauna was also outstanding; after reaching peak relaxation, the panoramic view of the town from the elevated terrace was breathtaking. The interior design, amenities, and tableware were all thoughtfully curated down to the smallest details, making it feel like one night simply wasn’t enough. Both adults and children were completely satisfied, and we will definitely be back again.

A luxuriously designed, calm Hotel for adults. Both the meals and service were very satisfying. The semi-open-air jacuzzi was also available, so it felt like we had it all to ourselves. Personally, it would be best if the bed were a bit softer. It was a wonderful Accommodation, just as the highly rated Reviews said.

I stayed here for the Onsen, but the food was delicious, and the staff were very kind. The building and the room were old, but I liked the nostalgic atmosphere. When leaving, the grandmother of the Ryokan waved until my car was out of sight, which touched my heart. I had a wonderful time.

Although we arrived much later than our scheduled check-in time, the staff kindly assisted us without any sign of displeasure. We are truly grateful. The three of us stayed, and the price per person was very affordable. Despite the low cost, it was a comfortable and wonderful Accommodation. We would definitely like to stay again next time. It was very clean. We stayed with our relatives, including four junior high and high school students! The Onsen pool temperature can be adjusted, and even after soaking for two hours we didn’t feel tired. There is also a washer-dryer with detergent provided, so we were able to finish all our laundry and check out with everything clean! Next time the kids are eager to try again—bringing rice and using the rice cooker too. The only reason I deducted one star for the Facility was that there are some overly stylish steps/level changes, and you can unexpectedly drop down, which was startling. Not only my elderly mother, but even adults nearly stepped wrong and could have hurt a foot or their back. In particular, the entrance to the bath area was hard to see due to the colors and felt dangerous. Still, it was a wonderful place! We’ll definitely stay again.

We stayed this time as a family of four. We first discovered this Accommodation when we stayed here on a tour more than 10 years ago. Since then, we have returned many times for motorcycle touring and family trips. It is also in a great location for visiting the nearby Ainu Kotan and local handicraft shops. The delicious meals—and above all, the Onsen—everything deserves top marks. We will definitely be back again.

I fell ill and had to ask my brother’s family to go in my place. My nephew loves rice, and I have never seen him eat bread. However, dinner was bread-based, so they assumed he wouldn’t eat much. Instead, they said everything—the dishes and the bread—was delicious, and the three of them finished a meal meant for four. They also told me breakfast was truly wonderful. My brother and his wife, who are constantly worried about their son, said they had a very comfortable Hotel stay thanks to the excellent care from all the staff. Thank you very much for your kindness. Thank you as well for the get-well gift for me. June is both my birthday month and your Hotel’s celebration month, so I was disappointed that I couldn’t visit myself. I hope to visit again soon.

I usually stay for two nights, but this time I stayed for one night and was still able to relax at a comfortable pace. The beautiful hot spring left my skin glowing and smooth. With the carefully prepared meals, I felt I could spend my time in a healthy way. Next time, I’d like to stay for two nights and take it even slower.
