KURBIO is a name derived from the combination of the German word "KUR," meaning "healing, recovery, treatment," and the Greek word "BIOS," meaning "life." KUR is often associated with Kurhaus (a Facility for therapeutic and recuperative purposes, often featuring an Onsen), and BIO is commonly heard in recent years in the context of macrobiotics (a dietary approach translated as "the art of longevity"). Kusatsu Onsen Hotel KURBIO is designed with the desire to help guests restore their physical and mental health through both aspects. It offers a serene environment, the renowned hot springs of Kusatsu, and daily meal menus based on macrobiotics. This is a new style of healthy resort that has not existed in Japan before.

Dogo Onsen, one of Japan’s three oldest hot springs. In the historic Onsen town, “Dogo Onsen Yachiyo” celebrated its grand opening in the summer of 2018. About 40 minutes by car from Sendai city center－ "A Property in Harmony with the Mountains" A satoyama retreat stay where you can spend your time appreciating the seasonal beauty. The stay style is all-inclusive, with a variety of services such as dining, activities, and events within the Property included in the accommodation fee. At the "Relaxation Salon," a space where you can spend your time as you like, enjoy post-bath draft beer or freshly brewed coffee at your leisure. Since receiving our charge from Gen’emon Araya, head steward of the hot spring under the Maeda family of the former Daishoji Domain in Kaga, we have carried forward—day by day in our work—the essence of what must remain unchanged and what should evolve. The main building’s Zuiun Room with Onsen includes a semi-open-air hinoki (cypress) Onsen bath facing the garden. We also offer barrier-free Rooms with Onsen, appreciated by senior guests. Our kaiseki cuisine, crafted by the head chef using local ingredients, is highly regarded. Meals are served either in your Room or in a private dining room reserved exclusively for you.
