This was our first stay as three families. The service was excellent, and the meals were luxurious and delicious!! It was also close to the West Pier, so we went for walks there many times. We would definitely like to stay again.

A nostalgic accommodation reminiscent of the Showa era. While it is indeed old, it feels like visiting your childhood home or a relative's house in the countryside. The tatami room was calming, and I hadn't stayed in one for a while. I slept comfortably on the futon. The meals were not extravagant but tasted good and satisfying. It was lively as there seemed to be a karaoke party happening next door. The onsen had an indoor bath that was warm enough, while the open-air bath featured natural flowing spring water and was slightly lukewarm. However, soaking in it gradually warmed me up and turned out to be surprisingly pleasant. I enjoyed it both at night and in the morning. It felt like returning to my hometown, offering a relaxing experience overall.

I stayed here because I wanted to relax in Kurokawa Onsen. The Accommodation had a calm atmosphere and was very comfortable, so I was able to spend a peaceful time even on my own. The Onsen temperature was just right, and it truly soothed my travel fatigue. The Asuka hot pot I had for dinner was especially memorable. The gently flavored soup, like white miso, was absolutely delicious, and I enjoyed it all the way to the end without getting tired of it. Every dish made with local ingredients was also wonderful, and both my heart and stomach were completely satisfied. All of the staff were warm and welcoming, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. Thanks to them, I felt refreshed both physically and mentally, making it a memorable solo trip. I would love to come back in a different season. Thank you very much.

The bath was wonderful. I was also happy that there was an electric therapy chair. For dinner, it would have been even better if there had been one more small side dish or a salad. The staff cleaned the facilities from early in the morning, so I had a very pleasant stay. The garden was beautiful as well. Thank you very much.

There is an accommodation located just up the hill of Shiroyama at the eastern edge of the grid-like town. The narrow and steep approach road is one-way, so there’s no need to worry about oncoming traffic. Even large buses were able to make their way up. Although the entrance area of the accommodation is narrow, once you unload your luggage, valet service will take care of parking your car. Walking downhill from the accommodation leads to a main tourist spot, and it’s also conveniently close to the station, making it a great base for exploring. The interior is spacious with intricate design details. The staff are kind and attentive in their interactions. The room faces west with no tall trees obstructing the view, offering a wide panorama of the entire town that can be enjoyed both from inside and from the terrace with an open-air bath. (The view may vary depending on room orientation.) The private open-air bath in each room maintains an ideal temperature all day and night; it’s made of stone and spacious enough for a family to enjoy together. A shower room is conveniently adjacent. On our stay date, fireworks lit up Takayama city, which we watched for about an hour while leaning against the terrace railing. Meals are served in semi-private booth-style seating with sunken kotatsu tables. A quiet group of Western guests dined together in a large hall nearby.

Facilities & Surroundings There are very few shared Facilities, and the overall layout is compact. There isn’t much to do within walking distance nearby, so it felt difficult to go out without a car. Room The Room isn’t especially spacious, but it has the basic essentials. It feels more like a vacation home than a Hotel, with a noticeable “home-like” atmosphere for better or worse. Some details also feel cost-conscious in design, which may come down to personal preference. Onsen There is only an open-air bath, but it was enough to enjoy during the stay. Service Rather than the polished service you might expect from typical Hotel staff, the operation felt relatively casual. If you’re expecting luxury-Hotel-level professionalism and hospitality, it may feel different from what you imagine. Dining The cuisine is French-inspired and makes good use of local ingredients; overall, everything was delicious. That said, in the latter courses it felt less about premium ingredients themselves and more about creatively finishing dishes with comparatively lower-cost items. Considering the restaurant on its own, my satisfaction level felt around JPY 20,000 per person. Overall Review While the dining was excellent, considering this as “staying as an overnight guest,” I felt the price was somewhat high when factoring in the Room and overall Facilities. On the other hand, if viewed more like usage rights or a membership-style Accommodation rather than a standard Hotel stay, your perspective may differ. Overall, this seems better suited for those who want to enjoy quiet surroundings along with dining and an Onsen experience than for those seeking a distinctly luxurious getaway or highly attentive service.

It was a small, cozy Accommodation. The hospitality was warm. I wish the amenities had been a bit more complete, but I enjoyed the breakfast. I would like to stay again if I have the opportunity.

Stayed during the October long weekend with a dinner-only plan. Despite the rainy weather, we were able to check in early and were guided to a lovely, clean twin room called "Takimi," where we could enjoy a view of the waterfall from the window. The bath was on the hotter side, but it was heated twice daily by the owner using firewood, which helped soothe our fatigue from hiking. Dinner at 6 PM was absolutely delicious, especially the Kawamata Shamo hot pot, which was outstanding. We enjoyed it to the fullest by pouring the leftover broth over rice! The soup was carefully made from chicken bones, a truly exquisite dish. It even came with horse sashimi, leaving both my husband and me extremely satisfied! Although we had to leave early due to our travel schedule, we were very well taken care of. The hospitality of the owner and hostess was truly touching. This is definitely one of the accommodations we would love to visit again.

Every early December, we always stay here for smelt fishing at Lake Yamanaka. The Room has been renovated and is clean, and above all, the dinner is hearty and very delicious. The coffee sticks and tea available on each floor are helpful. We will come back again next year!

This was our first time staying here, and thanks to the owner’s kindness and thoughtfulness, we felt warmly welcomed every day. We stayed for four nights, and although it rained, it was the most pleasant trip we’ve ever had. Our child and my parents were all very happy, and we were completely satisfied. If we can get some time off, we would love to stay again. Our whole family is truly filled with gratitude. Thank you very much for everything.

The room was very clean, and the front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. However, there is no elevator, so you have to take the stairs to your room, which made carrying luggage difficult.

I stayed for one night and two days as a solo female guest. It was very comfortable. I felt the hospitality was truly heartfelt. I will visit again.

In this cozy building, the furnishings are thoughtfully chosen with understated care. The collection of Ko-Imari porcelain gathered by successive proprietresses is also superb. The meals were elegantly seasoned and paired wonderfully with drinks. It truly lives up to its reputation as the Accommodation that hosted the Meijin title match in shogi. I would love to return if I have the chance.

The cozy size of the Accommodation felt very comfortable, and the staff were wonderful—it was a place where we could truly relax. Kurumi had no other guest Rooms on the same floor, and the library next door felt like an extension of our own Room, which made it feel like a great bonus (lol). The location was also convenient for visiting Kiyomizu-dera before breakfast and coming back easily. Breakfast was delicious as well. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.

The building, Room interiors, and furnishings are all exceptional. It was an unparalleled experience to touch and admire artistic plates and pitchers while enjoying a drink, as if viewing them through glass. The price is indeed in the high range, but it was absolutely worth it. The cuisine was also outstanding. The staff's deep knowledge of art and philosophy was truly inspiring and educational. Although I just returned, I already feel like visiting again. The Facility, including its location, is excellent. Highly recommended for those who love folk crafts. Thank you very much!

Thank you very much for your hospitality the other day. We felt even more relaxed than at a relative’s home in the countryside and enjoyed spring in the satoyama. We thoroughly enjoyed a hearty breakfast, and the Goemon-style bath as well. We’ll be back again. Thank you very much.

Guesthouse. I stayed for 3 nights for the first time, and it was very comfortable. I even became friends with the regular guests. The next day, four of us went snorkeling early in the morning at Aragusuku Beach, creating a very fun memory. There is a hammock on the rooftop where you can relax. It would be even more enjoyable if the weather is nice. The kitchen is equipped with pots, plates, chopsticks, seasonings, and a refrigerator, so cooking is possible. Everyone either cooks and eats together or goes out to eat; until 11 PM is a time for socializing. I was traveling alone but quickly made friends with everyone there. When I visit Miyako Island again, I will definitely stay at this guesthouse! Looking forward to visiting again!
