The Akakura Kanko Resort Hotel was founded in 1937 (Showa 12). Built by the Okura Zaibatsu following the Kamikochi Imperial Hotel and Kawana Hotel, it is a pioneer among Japan's Resort Hotels. The Hotel is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters, where a sea of clouds can sometimes be seen below.
