"Keikoku no Kakure Yado Iya Bijin" is a Property with an Onsen and a soba restaurant, located right in front of this lush green valley and clear stream. Originally opened in 1975 as a handmade soba restaurant using local buckwheat and spring water, the Property later added 8 Rooms and a detached accommodation to provide visitors to Iya with a more relaxing and leisurely stay. All Rooms are equipped with open-air baths, allowing guests to fully enjoy the Onsen while admiring the stunning views. For meals, indulge in unique dishes featuring local river fish and vegetables, or gather around the irori hearth for hot pot and charcoal-grilled delicacies. To finish, savor our specialty Iya soba. Takayu Onsen is a quaint and rustic hot spring area located at the entrance of the Azuma Skyline. With partial renovations starting in 2024, a new lounge, guest rooms, and by 2025, renovated large public baths and open-air baths have reopened. Enjoy the newly divided East and West Onsen facilities. At the new lounge "Hêtre," you can savor drinks and snacks that change with the time of day. After check-in, enjoy beer or sparkling wine after your bath, while during bar time after dinner, whiskey or sake is available as post-meal drinks (some items are charged).

It's like opening a giant time capsule. That was the impression when we first entered to begin the restoration of this accommodation. This building once served as a "Honjin," a resting place for the Matsumoto feudal lord traveling to Edo during the Sankin-kotai system. Over 100 years, it has accumulated remnants from various eras, packed tightly within its walls. As we carefully uncovered these layers with the help of local residents, the essence and potential of this accommodation began to reveal themselves.The cultural figures who passed through here, and those who warmly welcomed them with heartfelt hospitality. An old hearth unexpectedly discovered when removing floorboards—when its fire is lit again after all these years, this Honjin will come alive once more. Perhaps this space has been waiting for someone all along.
