Skilled in traditional ink-line marking, Heikichi was known locally as “Sumiya no Hei-san” (“Hei from the ink shop”). From this nickname came the house name Tanpei, later renamed “Tanpei,” and it has since been operated as the oldest Accommodation in Tango Town to this day. The spirit of hospitality of “Sumiya no Hei-san” has been passed down through six generations and continues today.

Arima Onsen, one of Japan's oldest hot spring resorts and counted among the three most famous onsen in Japan. During the Meiji era, when Kobe opened its port to foreign trade, many foreigners visited Arima Onsen. They also visited the renowned autumn foliage spot "Kiyomizu-dera," which later became a foreigner-exclusive hotel called "Kiyomizu Hotel." The lush green grounds of "Arima Sanso Goshobessho" still retain the sacred atmosphere of that time. Goshobessho was established by Shirobei Kanai XV, the current head of "Tosen Goshobo," Arima Onsen's oldest accommodation. All 10 suite rooms at Goshobessho are detached and feature private onsen baths and low-temperature saunas known as "Thermal Rooms." One of these suites even includes the world's first treehouse-style open-air bath.

Located about a 5-minute taxi ride from JR Tendo Station, "Tendoso" has been in operation for over 100 years since its founding as an eel restaurant in the early Meiji era. A new villa, "Awaji Hamarikyu Besso Takumi," stands on the north side of the classic Japanese resort Awaji Hamarikyu, offering a new charm. While maintaining the beautiful sunset and scenic Keino Matsubara, this property offers an upgraded stay experience. Although there are only 17 rooms in total, each room is equipped with an open-air bath filled with Uzushio Onsen Ten no Yu. There are also two loft rooms and rooms up to 111 square meters that can comfortably accommodate three generations of travelers, providing room types to meet various customer needs. The first-floor dining area features a private terrace overlooking the sea and sunset beyond Keino Matsubara, creating an exquisite space. This building was originally a village headman's house where ancestors lived since 1842 (Tenpo 13). Within the premises, there is a nagaya-mon gate, main house, rice storehouse, and garden that have been preserved for 200 years. The rice storehouse, designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, was renovated in 2005 to start a French restaurant. The owner is the 8th generation here. With the desire to preserve it unchanged for the next 200 years and to offer a complete hospitality experience to our guests, we have built a property on the mountain behind.
